In Seattle SCARECROW VIDEO has become a nonprofit film library. They still rent films out but if you donate your unwanted DVDs, Blus, even Laser Discs you can take a tax deduction and be happy with the fact they are still being enjoyed by others. I've given them a lot of stuff as new 4K...
Yes, the stuff they removed was put in at Producer Roger Corman's demand. It was mostly shot by Jack Hill (Monte Hellman did the prologue). The film works fine without these additions. I have a ton of 40s and 50s movies that run a brief 69 minutes. I saved my old FILM DETECTIVE Blu-ray so I...
Kino Insider: I would like to order SOLDIER BLUE which is now available for preorder, but the Kino site only allows you to purchase the DVD version. The photo is of a Blu-ray and that is the one I would like. Will there be a Blu-ray or just the DVD that is currently listed?
I have been ordering directly from FILM MOVEMENT and their service is excellent. Received the set of 5 war films (THEIR FINEST HOUR), and the Sim's collection is in the mail.
The old StudioCanal Collection Blu-ray I have was issued in 2009 and is Region A/B (still available on amazon.uk, although they mention it is used). Very much looking forward to the 4K.
There is a very good French Blu-ray which is Region Free . . . https://www.amazon.fr/Survivants-linfini-Combo-Blu-ray-DVD/dp/B01E66JC4I/ref=sr_1_1?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1528325349&sr=1-1&keywords=this+island+earth
Has anyone heard/read if there will be a Blu-ray release of Season Three? There is a standard DVD release on amazon available from a couple of outlets who sell via amazon, but no Blu-ray.
SONG OF NORWAY is the only film I can remember ever having walked out on during the intermission, fortunately, my car was still in the lot. Even seeing it at the CINERAMA theater made no difference.
What a surprise! I ordered the same three titles, however, my package has been misplaced by the Postal Service . . . very pleased THE CHASE looks good as it is a favorite of mine.
Besides THE VIKINGS, I keep requesting NO DOWN PAYMENT (scope, black and white, directed by Martin Ritt) and did receive an encouraging word from Twilight Time in that they do have the rights but need to check the materials available.
Thanks for this one, a favorite of mine, never thought it would show up on Blu. The sound recording was very important (Altman's influence, I suppose) when I saw it at the time of its brief cinema release, but it has never been replicated on video properly.
I wonder if Selyse will develop a bit more in future episodes and become the Clytemnestra of this story. She certainly did not seem happy to see what was happening to her daughter.
The Greeks did this first when Agamemnon sacrificed his daughter Iphigenia at the urging of a priest so the wind would rise and he could sail his army to Troy. The sacrifice of our children in war is an old story.
Rave for THE WORLD OF HENRY ORIENT - a two schoolgirls follow concert pianist Peter Sellers around a beautiful New York City and continuously interrupt his secret romance with Paula Prentiss, a very funny movie.
Two more months of spending my allowance - particularly pleased to toss my non-anamorphic DVD of MISSISSIPPI MERMAID, a fine version of an American crime novel by Cornell Woolrich.
