Star Trek films on Blu-Ray... what we know so far

Guess I'm never going to see TMP DC in high def in my lifetime, That's damn disappointing.

UHD What titles would you purchase on UHD Blu-ray

I am still so "on the fence" with the whole UHD/4K concept, and that's a format first for me. With pretty good Blu-ray versions of literally all of my favorite films, the upgrade from 1080p to 4K leaves me flat. That being said, I'll probably upgrade through attrition when my current...

    We lost Steve Tannehill

This is very sad news, I read DVD Resource religiously for years in the early DVD days. What an intelligent man he was.

Better Call Saul (AMC) - Season 1

I love this show. It's smart and incredibly fun to watch Saul fight his own character flaws. No matter how beaten down Jimmy (Saul) gets, you can always see the little gears turning in his mind. That billboard con was brilliant. Kim's slight smile after seeing it was perfect. Can't wait for...

One of my favorite "coming of age" films. Extremely well written.

Top 10 favourite 90s films that haven't been released on Blu-ray

Never Cry Wolf (1983) A gorgeous film by Carroll Ballard, but given that it is a Disney live action property more than 10 years old, I have almost no hope.

Blu-ray Review On Golden Pond Blu-ray Review

I absolutely love this film. Reminds me of the summers I used to spend in Michigan's Upper Peninsula many years ago and the time I spent with my grandfather, in a boat, fishing. He's been gone many years, but the memories stay. I'll never forget the time he was teaching me to cast properly; I...

A PEEK AT HEAVEN AND EARTH

I have always thought that films told from the perspective of the "enemy" are very interesting. All Quiet on the Western Front, Letters From Iwo Jima, and Heaven and Earth are all great movies IMO. It's too bad that they may not always appeal to mass audiences. I am glad, however, that some...

Could the original, unaltered STAR WARS be on its way to Blu-ray?

I couldn't think of a better quote myself to apply to George Lucas.

Could the original, unaltered STAR WARS be on its way to Blu-ray?

Because the new colors fit with Mr. Lucas' "original vision".

Could the original, unaltered STAR WARS be on its way to Blu-ray?

I don't agree with this sentiment on principle. The whole world had a very strong role in creating the phenomenon that is Star Wars. Where's our copyright on the experience we had in 1977? Without the ticket buyers, George Lucas would have ended his career a failed filmmaker, struggling to pay...

Could the original, unaltered STAR WARS be on its way to Blu-ray?

I have the Blu-ray Saga set and like it. The quality is actually very good for the original three films, given their transfer was done over a decade ago. The problem for me with the whole issue is the unavailability of the originals. Yes, I know that the DVD sets from '06 have the original...

Could the original, unaltered STAR WARS be on its way to Blu-ray?

I've read where there are at least several low-fade Technicolor 35mm prints in the hands of private collectors, including the British print that was shown at the Senator Theater in Baltimore in 2010: George Lucas also commissioned a private print from Technicolor when he made the film, which...

Stay away from the odd pages; nothing good ever comes of them.

Could the original, unaltered STAR WARS be on its way to Blu-ray?

I see the "Original" Star Wars Trilogy as a time capsule. The first three films (Eps. IV to VI) may not have the technical wizardry of today's movies, but in the 70s and 80s, they were amazing and sparked the imaginations of millions. That's why it's important to have them in their original...

Photos: Open Your Blu-Ray/DVD Vault and show us your valuables

First is a signed Close Encounters Blu-ray by Vilmos Zsigmond, Director of Photography, who I met briefly at the Milwaukee Film Festival 2 years ago. They had a theatrical 35mm screening of the film and a Q&A with Mr. Zsigmond afterwards. Very charming man who had quite a few opinions about...

    Your first Blu-ray Purchase?

Couldn't agree more. CE3K's Blu-ray is the crown jewel in my collection, due to the quality of the transfer, extras, and seamless branching, as well as the fact that I have a Vilmos Zsigmond signed edition.

    Movies only you could love

+1 on this title. Beautiful film and Blu-ray from Twilight Time. Another early 80s film I love is Against All Odds with Jeff Bridges and Rachel Ward. Doesn't seem to be popular with most people, but I like it. Another Sony title that has a gorgeous Blu-ray transfer. The Mexican locations are...

My collection is pretty random, although I seem to be able to find just about anything pretty quickly. Boxed sets are all together.

Size does matter: How big is your film library?

200 or so Blu-rays, probably about the same in DVD. Anything larger makes me feel like a hoarder, so I try to keep the collection in check.

    Jersey Boys

I saw it yesterday and liked it. Not as poor as the reviews IMO. I did like the stage show a bit more. I didn't like the desaturated look Eastwood chose. It could have been better in vivid color.

Star Trek films on Blu-Ray... what we know so far

I have few illusions that ST:TMP isn't a film with many flaws. It has enormous pacing issues, the story is a bit weak, and many of the characters (Kirk in particular) spend much of the movie in a bad mood. However, these flaws reduce none of the charm that TMP brings to the table IMO. It took...
