A question that I get asked a lot by people using our DIY Kits or just free handing their own star ceiling and are looking for a little help, is this... "My constellation stars have little peaks in them and they aren't round, am I doing something wrong?"
So, here's something that might come...
This is a ceiling that is possible without a professional (me) painting it for you. This guy used out DIY Kit and went to town. You don't need our DIY Kit, there are other good options, but if you're thinking about doing a star ceiling, there's the video of the FO above, our DIY Kit, and other...
The question comes up a lot when someone asks me to paint a night sky for them, they get one of our Kits, or if they are just wanting to free-hand a night sky on their own. I'll be asked, "do I really need constellations in my mural," or, if they already know that they want to have them, "do I...
The customer used some of my glow paint to paint mountains around his room (it's supposed to look like moonlight), then I painted the might sky above it. I LOVE this room!!!
I'm sure that this projector is probably brighter than the painted version, but not the fiber optics. The painted murals, with super realistic, get fairly washed out when a movie is playing. But, with the fluorescing additive in our paint... it can be seen better with a UV light on during a...
I still get questions about "tube" black lights not charging the glow paint. Normally, the tube black lights are a great source of UV light, so why wouldn't they charge the paint? Twice I drove a long way only to discover a simple solution.
So you are thinking about a painted night sky mural in your theater... and wondering about putting blacklights in a soffit to charge the paint. Will it work if it's not too far down from the ceiling?
Hopefully this will help answer that question...
I can't help with the motorized screen ( I remember them opening for the previews, closing, and then opening again for the main attraction... sigh), but I can help you with a star ceiling (as long as it isn't projected). If you want to freehand one, find a DIY Kit, or have someone paint one for...
For this interested in a painted star ceiling (you paint free-hand, someone else paints, or you use a stencil guide)... this video might give you some ideas on soffits and paint color, as well as other tidbits.
In case anyone has a starry ceiling mural, or is thinking about one... for those who don't have a soffit, and are just going with a light that can be set on the bed, or floor, and aimed up at the ceiling to charge the glow paint, a customer sent me a link to an LED light that works very well! I...
Hi Stefan... I love your theater. Some of the Star Wars objects that you have in there reminded me of a theater I painted recently that had a couple of things that you might like. They had some light sabers, as you had... but some other cool things too. Here are a couple of pictures. I think you...
Hi David... Did you ever figure out if that fiber optic star ceiling would work for you? I've been "painting" star ceilings for about 25 years and, as a business, for about 17. I can give you other options for a painted ceiling, be it having someone paint it for you, several DIY stencil options...
Hi Laura... Yeah, I don't push them much because, while the stencils are ready, I want to have all the boxes printed and looking nice as wells as the tools packaged with branding. But, lots have used them and they work great. There are other, less expensive stencils that you can use too. It just...
In another group, where I've posted this same thread... a lot of people have asked about the best lights to use to charge the paint in the murals. For years I have been asked about LED UV lights, or which tube black lights are the best to use. So, for those of you who've had a star mural painted...
The ceiling is the only thing I painted in this room. The sides are what I would like to have also painted, but the fabric on the walls wasn't the right color. I can't find the picture with only the ceiling painted. This is a picture I sent to the customer to show him what it would look like...
