If they actually brightened the video the way the sample pics are brightened, then this is going to be even worse than the DVDs, because the fact that the blacks are crushed means that if they brighten it the way those pics are, the monotone black areas will become monotone grey areas.

Well, OK, I agree, the only way that it is not a proof is that they weren't showing the Blu-Ray footage at comic con but to my understanding it was supposed to be promotion for the Blu-Ray set, so I just don't see why they would use an old transfer if they had a new one.

From the guy's comments it is clear that the comic con video is supposed to show off the Blu-Ray and the glitch, which is definitely inherent to the 2004 version and wouldn't be in any other transfer is quite clearly there. How is that ridiculous?
