It would be a first day purchase for me, Lord willing. I've been waiting since 2009 for a HD release of this film. I watched it on iTunes (I think) a couple of years ago...brought back fond memories of my love of sci-fi, space travel, robots, and singularities into the unknown.
Probably so. I enjoyed Xanadu because to me it was like watching a connected (or disconnected) stream of music videos. ELO and Olivia were on my 80's "pop / progressive rock" favorites list back then. And Olivia was, is a hottie too. :P
...still love 80's music... :)
I must have had your code, then. My first Star Trek BD set had two codes printed on top of each other; I couldn't read it, so I exchanged my set for another and all was well.
I'm glad, too, that Paramount released it BD. I doubt the studio will be re-releasing it again next year as an ultimate edition, unless there is great $$$ potential. Has this movie been a cash cow for Paramount???
The colorized version isn't that bad. Some folks demand perfection for the same price. I certainly wouldn't want to pay more for a "perfect" restoration. If you are a serious collector, why not spend the $$$ for an original print?
I plan to enjoy the BW version sometime this month. It's only...

The British Blu-ray from Universal contains both the b&w and colour versions on one disc.
Bonus materials:
- Trivia subtitle track
- Picture comparison: while watching the colour version, it's possible to compare it with the b&w version via the picture-in-picture feature
- Theatrical...
I finally watched this film for the first time. It was more interesting than some of the James Bond flicks I've seen. I'm not a Hitch fan, but I'll be keeping my eye on future releases of his films.
The restoration for this 50th Anniv. edition is fantastic! WB did a wonderful job with this...
I hope WB/MGM release this film sooner in 2010, especially if no new extras will be included in the BD release. I rented the film this past summer and was blown away by the production and plot. Back in the 1950's, watching this film was like watching Star Wars. I'm sure people in 1956 were...
BB usually can't compete with Amazon; not surprised about the lower price at Amazon. I can't wait to see this film in two weeks..../img/vbsmilies/htf/smile.gif
Yeah, I didn't think about that. Someone told me the other day that George Bailey is the name of the main character in the film. I hope to have a break from school during Thanksgiving and will watch it with family members.
I envy you the event of enjoying this film for the first time. It is...
I went ahead and pre-ordered this BD. I don't remember ever watching this film, but I've heard (and read) good things 'bout it. I plan to pick it up on release day, but won't be able to watch it until a week or so later.
Yeah, I figured that the scene at the museum was the one at Dulles. I used to live in that area but moved out several years before the Udvar-Hazy was built. I'm sure it's a cool place to be.
Has anyone tried to unlock the secret easter egg in the AllSpark Experiment? You have to put together components for each of the machines. Certain combinations will unlock the fifth vehicle. A perfect custom configuration of the fifth vehicle will unlock a video about the upcoming TF3 I'm...
I'm glad I purchased TWOO in Hi-Def. I was originally going to skip this release altogether, but after reading comments on some forums, I decided to go get a copy on release day. I am also glad WB decided to leave the grains intact. Watching this film the day I bought it was like watching it...
Hi-Ho everyone,
I was exploring the Hyperion Studios on Disc 2. Using the Index to find my way (there are lots of stuff), I navigated to the Live Action Reference and selected the Live Action Reference Gallery. It allows me to navigate the 3 pages of still photo thumbnails, but when I press...
I was going to skip SWATSD until I read here about Amazon's deal. I should stay away from these forums....
Anways, when my set arrives, I'm probably give the DVD version to my office mate so that his wife and kids can enjoy it. BD is all I need.
Wizard of Oz 70th Anniversary edition is a splendid release. I just watched it for the first time - amazing sound and picture quality for a film this old. It's been more than 20 years since I had watched the entire film. I went to Wal-Mart to purchase my copy - well worth the $19.96
cheers!
Wow! This is the first time in more than 20 years since I watched The Wizard of Oz in one sitting. It recall each time i watched this movie, I fell in love with Judy Garland. And that's still the case!
The PQ is fantastic for a film made 70 years ago. The audio track is right on and incredibly...
Top 3:

Sound of Music
I have a Sony s350 player, with the current firmware 019. Star Trek Season 2 does not allow me to change the angel view (from new effects to original effects). Sometimes it works, but only once after I press the angle button. Most of the time, regardless of which ST episode, the angle button...
Great films - I want those on BD too. But according to Roland Emmerichs and his writers, the world is going to end in 2012 or something like that; therefore, many of us probably won't be around after 2012 to watch those BD releases.
I agree, those anniversaries are getting annoying, especially...
