    Anyone with Optimus LX-10's?

Yeah, they're still around. I bought several pairs of 828's from uBid in '99 and also a couple pairs of LSB-527's bookshelves and LSC-537 CC's. My daughter has one of the pairs of 828's and a 537 in her system and my mom has a pair of 527's in her simple sytem. Not to mention I exchanged a pair...

    Anyone with Optimus LX-10's?

I have those linaeum tweeters(the silk version) in the Aura LSW-828M's and LSC-537M CC in the primary HT in my living room. I've had them for 8+ years and I still love them for HT. They're pretty darn good for music as well but they really shine in the HT environment.

    Epik Dynasty review

Yup. Chad's father's name is Dale. Several years ago I bought an Atlas 12 and Arsenal 12 from them when they owned Ascendant Audio. AA is still around but it's now owned by Scott.

    Huge Floorstanding Speaker Question

I had a Fisher rack system back in the day..around twenty years ago. The double casette deck eventually died and the amp on the receiver shorted out after 7-8 years. My mom still has the Fisher CD player which I bought seperately from Crazy Eddie's. In fact, the CD player and the...

    Questions about on line store

I can't speak for those cables but I bought a refurbished Marantz SR5002 AVR from them around three months ago. The shipping was crazy fast and the unit was cosmetically perfect..not a scratch or blemish on the thing. I placed my order late in the afternoon and it was already on it's way(with a...

    Decent cheap 7.1 speaker system

I have to agree with the idea of scrapping the 7.1 idea and eventually going the 5.1 route...but I would do it slowly as others have mentioned. Look around for nice set of bookshelf speakers within your budget and build from there. The next logical step would be to add a timbre-matched center...

Samsung HL67A750 - can I really abuse this TV?

I live in NJ so Fry's really isn't a viable option...particularly after reading the less than stellar reviews about Fry's.com. I'm really want to kick myself. I kinda decided to forget about the Sammy 61" DLP and just get the aforementioned Samsung PN50A450 50" plasma right now to hold me over...

    recievers verses seperates

I gotta say that post was hard on my eyes...not to mention a confusing array of of points/opinions which rambled all over the place. And it wouldn't have hurt to throw a couple of paragraphs in there to break up that mumbo-jumbo.

Samsung HL67A750 - can I really abuse this TV?

Man, Thanks for info and advice. I'm not really a big TV junkie. I work swing shift(5pm-1am) and I rarely watch TV during the day. My wife uses our eight year old Tosh 50H81 RPTV much more than I do. I mainly watch sports, football in particular, so that and the occasional BR or DVD will...

Samsung HL67A750 - can I really abuse this TV?

Thanks for the advice. I was leaning that way anyway(based on the same thought process) and I've had my heart set on the 61" Sammy DLP for so long that I'd probably kick myself a month from now if I pull the trigger on the 50" plasma in a day or two. I don't think I could go wrong either way as...

Samsung HL67A750 - can I really abuse this TV?

If I don't go crazy over the next 2-3 weeks it will be a miracle We were walking around BB last night and we noticed they had the Samsung PN50A450 (50" 720p plasma) on clearance for $1000. Of course, that doesn't include sales tax which would bring it up to $1070 in the "great" state of NJ. I...

Samsung HL67A750 - can I really abuse this TV?

Thanks for the info. I had to do a doubletake when I saw what you paid. I don't have enough money right now for the 61"(after spending the $$$ on the Marantz SR5002 AVR,Panny BD-35 BR, and the pair of "Famous Maker"(aka Atlantic Tech) 10" subs from PE. So, I'm sitting here playing the...

Samsung HL67A750 - can I really abuse this TV?

That's an incredible deal for the 67"....major kudos to you. I'm looking to get the 61" in several weeks online if there's any left by that time. I'll probably be paying in the $1500 range shipped so that highlights your incredible deal. Did they offer you the set for $1299 without the extended...

    Headphones

My seven(?) year old Sherwood RD7106 has a button to turn the speakers on and off when listening with headphones. The Marantz SR5002 which I bought two months ago does it automatically.

    Best place to buy receiver

I can vouch for Accessories4Less. I bought a refurbished Marantz SR5002 from them around a month ago. I ordered it late in the afternoon on a Tuesday and it arrived at my front door on Thursday...pretty impressive since they're located in Florida and I live in NJ. It looked brand new...not a...

    In-Wall connectors and conduit.

Sorry, no pics as my digi camera is on the fritz right now. Like you, I was gonna make my own receptacle boxes with wood but then I saw the boxes(they come in metal or plastic) at HomeDepot when I went there looking for raceway wiring. They come in three different depths. I needed something...

    In-Wall connectors and conduit.

You may want to check out your local Home Depot or do a search online for "raceway wiring". http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/...atalogId=10053 I have the wiring for my rear surrounds behind the baseboard and routed into the nearby closet. From that point it goes up through the ceiling...

    Panasonic slashing jobs, closing plants

Thanks Jacob! Around three weeks ago I picked up a refurbished Marantz SR5002 for $299 shipped from AC4L so I'm 2/3's of the way there. I now have my sights set on the final piece of the puzzle...the Samsung HL61A750 LED DLP. My wife says we can probably get it in 2-3 weeks. It's getting...

Jeff: How do you like your BD35? I picked up a refurbished BD35 on ebay several minutes ago for $240 shipped. The seller is very reputable and an authorized Panny reseller. It comes with a 90-day Panny parts and labor warranty but I'm trying to decide if I want to fork over an additional $27...

    Speaker Wire Help!

You can spend quite a bit less for quality banana plugs on ebay. I just picked up a 24-pack of Nakamichi banana plugs on ebay recently for $17.99 shipped. I got lucky and caught a helluva deal but there are tons of 20 & 24-pack Nak banana plugs on there in the mid-$20's shipped. If you don't...

    help with ceiling speakers

Like I said, my M&S in-walls will be used as surrounds in the ceiling of my 15'x11' secondary HT. Although I came away very impressed in my limited audition of them I wouldn't consider in-walls or in-ceiling speakers(in particular) for anything but surround duty.

Budget sub for 100% home theater

gene: Both of mine were the SB-1000 which are now "no longer available" per PE. I hear ya about the output as I auditioned them (one at a time) in my primary HT setup to see how they compared to my half-decent Dahlquist PDQ 15". I couldn't believe the output for a 10". I'll be using two of...

    Pardon my ignorance...

Ain't that the truth? I never expected to pay a little over $300 shipped for a quality receiver like Marantz. I thought about waiting for the 5003 refurbs to become available(just for the addition of the DD Pure HD and DTS-MA onboard decoders) but in the end I decided the 5002 had everything...
