So does Vivid mode make compression artifacting worse? For some reason Vivid looks like the best picture to me. The other modes look too dark. I watch sports mostly, is this weird. I've looked over at AVS and the have a 180 page thread on this model of tv and the settings seem to be all over...

Really, I've never heard you shouldn't watch in vivid mode. What setting is it that causes the picture problem? Is it contract, brightiness? Maybe i'll look into professional calibration, how much would that typically cost?

I've got a DCH3416 Motorola cable box. This thing is driving me crazy. It does not respond very well to the remote. It doesn't matter if I use my Harmony one or the comcast remote. I have to hit the FF button ten times before it starts to work. Any suggestions to make this better?

THanks for your help David. Can you explain to me the crossover settings. For example if I put my fronts 60-80hz that does mean they only play frequencies higher than that? I assume it's the opposite on the LFE. If it is set at 120hz it only plays frequencies lower than that?

I thought you had to turn off dynamic eq and RE-EQ. Are those the only two things you need to turn off. Also, I don't think anyone has mentioned what frequency my main speakers should be at. If there not full band, my options are 40hz, 80hz,120hz? thanks for the help.

I believe I fixed the problem. It appears the Audyssey setup set my speakers to between -5db and -10db. I'll read the link and make sure I did the set up properly.

It weird though, I cannot get it loud enough no matter what. I've messed with all of the setting but it's almost like too much is going through the center speaker.

I've now run the speaker calibration on my new SR806. One thing I find odd is that I really have to turn this receiver way more up than my 10 year old Yamaha HTR5240. Is this normal? I have to turn it up to -10db and even then it's not that loud. I'm worried something's not hooked up correctly...

I've been hooking up my new ONkyo SR806. On the initial set up it asks if your speakers are 4 OHM or 6 OHM. My speakers are 8 OHM, there isn't an option for 8 OHM. What do I do? I will most likely have many more questions on setting this up, I appreaciate everyone's help. Thanks

Thanks Gene C, I was thinking the LFE was the way to go. I was surprised when someone said to just go to the left/right input.
