Some actors just have that "it" quality to them. They can deliver lines and give the material that quality it otherwise would not have. Harrison Ford is not an actor with allot of range either, but he knew how to harvest something genuine from some of the dumbest lines ever written in Star Wars...
This will be interesting to watch. Note there is that Mark Wahlberg film (Six Billion Dollar Man) reportedly coming out sometime late in 2018 as well, so perhaps this Blu-Ray release is supposed to serve as spin off merchandise to support that project.
Of course I have ZERO faith in a revamped...
As I have already posted, i changed the wording before you entered the conversation. Please stop breaking the rules yourself by attacking and mis-characterizing me and then giving me directives. You're demeaning attitude is 'offensive'.
Sorry can't read minds, only posts. And as the moderator said, lets talk about the topic and not attack one another. If you can find ONE EXAMPLE of something said or done in Dukes that is legitimately offensive (by a very universal definition of the word), please provide it here. Name an episode...
Just for the record, I didn't direct any of my statements towards anyone personally in this conversation. It was directed at the special interest groups which have not shown a presence on these boards or received any support from anyone in this conversation...until now. 'Moron' changed to...
I think the reference here is to the industry and society's short-sided view of the issues. It's difficult to argue the validity of removing a show based on what someone deems "offensive" content when the content is widely seen in other capacities on similar shows and movies. Lets just call it...
The censored packaging was like that before this controversy so that's nothing new. The flag is either photo-shopped out or the car is depicted where you can't see the image on top. What's interesting is the DVD box sets continue to sell exactly as they always were with the flag often the...
I guess the problem I see is that TVLAND pulled the Dukes as a knee-jerk reaction to this perceived "controversy" just as other companies yanked product off shelves until the madness died down. TVLAND also received a petition with 181,500 signatures asking for the show to come back. I don't...
It's fascinating to me that all of the General Lee model kits have been restocked in stores and appear to be selling briskly. Even new packaging celebrating the show in some instances. Even Walmart is stocking the DVD box sets. So now that the outrage appears to be evaporating, where is the TV...
I just purchased this set for an more than reasonable $32.00 off Ebay new and still sealed. I've been watching this the past few days and I have to say I am thoroughly enjoying getting reacquainted with the series. More thoughtful in scope than I original remember. Definitely a series worth...
I think there is absolutely a kind of "black market" going on for Dukes right now. You have to look no further than Cooter's store which is pretty much the main hub for all Dukes of Hazzard merchandise. All sorts of merchandise that was SUPPOSEDLY not being manufactured anymore is absolutely...
Oh gee look... Amazon the first to come public and say they didn't "mean" they were banning Dukes of Hazzard with their confederate flag campaign. Amazing what revenue will do for those "corporate values"...
Personally I think Warner Bros will be working on a packaging campaign to bring Dukes back. It might not happen until next year but when you have artists like Kid Rock and Ted Nugent teaming up to sing a song called "Kiss my rebel ass" and vendors all over the country can't keep ANY kind of...
Don't forget Warner Bros home video website is selling all of the box sets at a great price. Not sure why people on Ebay are paying over $80.00 for season one when they can get them here for a quarter of that price. Here's season five for you...
I just watched an episode last night where a black character meets the Dukes and says, " Sorry to be a stranger in town." Daisy replies, " Ah, strangers are just friends we haven't met yet." Yeah... this is really a show to be ashamed of isn't it? Just tragic on so many levels. My grandson who...
Does Warner Bros even still produce Dukes on DVD or has this been in moratorium for a while? I guess if they still od, they'll be doing a facelift on the box set covers. What a shame.
I absolutely loved Lost in Space as a kid. Picked up the entire series on VHS through Columbia House, then was pleased to make a more space accommodating addition with the DVD's. The Blu-Ray set will be a nice upgrade, but I won't be chasing the debut price to have them. The one disadvantage...
I've been able to finally catch some of the hi-def episodes on CMT. While the resolution is modestly better, I feel differently now about a need for blu-ray conversion. I don't think the picture changes THAT much. And to Andy, regarding the existing picture quality on the DVD sets, my...
I have a Sony Blu-ray player S6200, so it's not a player issue. I don't buy my equipment from Walmart. My cables are also HD, so my setup is not an issue here. We might just have different definitions of what constitutes "fine". That quality may rank higher on your grading scale than mine. I'm...
I honestly think this will happen in due time, simply because more and more people are buying bigger and bigger televisions and the traditional DVD with no digital perks, doesn't register that well on these screens. For example, I have a 55" HDTV flat screen. Season one actually plays fairly...
Is there any more news regarding the possibility of Dukes coming to Blu ray? Seeing all of those Auto-Trader commercials has certainly peaked my interest.
My grandson is almost three now, and I started showing him episodes of Rocket Robinhood back when he was just turning two. He LOVES the show. And we have created this little ritual each time the opening tune comes on (both of them I guess). He has me get up and we march around the coffee table...
I'm wondering if they'll toy with a Blu Ray and DVD release or test the market first with DVD only? If I were Warner Bros., I would have an elite package that offers the blu-rays. You can only hit this market once. After they're out, I doubt many will go back and buy again for the blu-ray...
With Burt Ward mentioning a November release date, we have to wonder if this will follow the TimeLife path like the Six Million Dollar Man as a deluxe package for diehards and then follow with a individual season release starting sometime next year.
I have both volumes of Rocket Robin Hood from Canada. I grew up with the show back in the early 70's as part of the local afternoon programming for kids here in Louisville. It's wonderfully eclectic style was fun for me as a kid because it was so different from the standard format of anything I...
^^^ That makes allot of sense. It was a bummer though for the kids. Plus it diluted Davey's role even more since he couldn't do the morals himself. It really added to that detachment that Jackson was no longer there. The show lost it's heart and then felt more like it was just following format...
Great photo! I really like that. Yeah, I remember hearing he wanted to be Superman. But after doing Captain Marvel I don't think I could have seen him any other way. His performance is SO iconic, all I would ever see is Shazam! I dare say no one will ever give a performance as good as his...
Oh that is great! I had seen this site but didn't know you ran it. Good to know. Great interview and I really like the site. Yeah, any complaints he had mostly came from the dismissal which, as far as I'm concerned, were unjustified since Filmation lost the case and had to pay him for the...
