Pretty much the price because I am cheap. It is still hard for me to spend $20+ on a Blu ray...even for HD. I am so used to buying dvd's for less than $10.

I personally think that hooking anything up while you are saving up is worth it. I am relatively new to this too, I think all you need is optical for 5.1...but I could be wrong.

I agree because I had the same problem where the manufacturer made the blue and the green pretty similar and I accidentally plugged the blue into the green. When I realized this, I slapped my forehead, and switched the wires and it worked fine.
