I have a set of bose speakers with sub woofer that I have had for about 7 years, very good set. I have these connected to my pioneer receiver 501 that is about the same age. My issue is I am not able to get enough bass. What do I need to do? Could it be that the receiver is not putting out...
Can someone give me a few clues as to how to get more base out of my speakers? I have gone through the receiver settings I have set my base up as high as possible. I have a bose system, subwoofer and 5 satellites. Not sure if I need to put the receiver on a different setting or not. I know this...
Well for some reason, ALL away games (except Chicago) because we have the WGN channel are SD and I am sure that all of those cities are shooting their games in HD. I am just wondering why we are not able to see them in HD? Chris
I have Dish Network and when I watch the Houston Astros when they are away, I watch them on the FSN Network which is channel 445. I have two channel 445's, one is the SD channel and the other is the HD channel. When they are away, I am not able to see them on the 445 HD channel. Does anyone know...
Ok, how about this. IF I a watching an HD show on an HD channel with my new HDDVR with my HD programming and a commercial comes on that was not shot in HD, does the DVR or some other source upconvert the signal to HD? So in reality it is not really an HD program it is a modified version? Chris
Ok, I did remember another question. This is about PPV or HBO type movies. Currently all big screen movies are shot in wide screen in 5.1, but when I want to watch one of those movies I am watching it in SD, why is that? I mean I watched "Blades of Glory' last night and it was in SD, is...
I have Dish Network and I watch NBC on channel 2 and are you saying currently that channel is the analog channel? So if I order HD from Dish Network then I would be watching NBC on a different channel? Chris
Ok, I am starting to understand. I currently had Dish Network so I am not able to use an antenna. Also when watching the news on the local channel they are broadcasting in HD but what you are saying is there is another channel that the news is truly in HD. What is kinda confusing is why do...
Ok HD buffs got a question for ya about HD Programming. I was watching a show tonight on CBS and when the show started it said it was being broadcast in HD. So if I am watching this show on my 1080i 50" widescreen and I do NOT have an HD DVR box or HD programming, then I am still watching the...
Can anyone answer the question about the local channels having their own HD channels, like NBCHD, etc.. Is this a totally different channel than plain old NBC? If so, then why? If regular old NBC is your SD channel, then is NBC just plitting the signal into two different tv channels? If so, I...
I am not sure how to ask this question without asking a couple others. I do not currently have HD, but when a network channel say like ESPNHD is broadcasting a game, I assume that cameras they are using are HD. First question, is it possible for me to watch the same game on regular ESPN? IF...
So basically to clarify the signal that is coming in from my Satellite dish is the best the signal will ever be because it is coming in uncompressed? If so, then my question was why not use only coaxial cables like the one from the satellite dish if it carries video and audio. Right now you can...
It seems like the coaxial cable is the only video cable coming in from the wall, being able to deliver and type of signal, HD, etc.. so why in the world do we have to go out an buy all these other cables, like HDMI, Component, etc.. why not just have everything hooked up via coaxial? I mean...
I think I must be missing the boat because I still really do not see a benefit in widescreen. Can anyone tell me why we have widescreen if we are seeing anymore image on the tv, it is basically the same as 4:3 but there are black lines on the top and bottom so in reality we are seeing less tv by...
So basically to verify something if I am watching a show and it does not have bars then it is safe to say it's 4:3 and so I need to change my tv to Full and if the show has bars then it's widescreen so I need to change the tv to normal or wide? Chris
Ok, question for all you wide screen buffs out there. I have been wondering why do we have wide screen? We are not gaining anymore screen size over 4:3 and even when I watch a wide screen movie I still have black on the top and bottom of the movie? So why have wide screen? Also, if my tv is...
I have the opportunity of purchasing a floor model that Sony is doscontinuing. I will be saving about $400.00 on this unit. I have inspected it and it looks perfect, sounds great and the picture looks like new. I assume it is about 1 year old so far. What are your thoughts on purchasing a floor...
I guess it would have helped if I would have mentioned that I have the Dish Network Dual tuner which means that I do not have a cable box on my second tv, the signal comes from the first box downstairs. So basically I have my coax coming out of the wall directly into the TV. I was wondering if...
Hi all, I have a small 20" tv that only has a coaxial connection and I want to find a way to get surround sound out of it by hooking it up to my receiver. So does anyone know how I can go from a coaxial connection, into my receiver and out of the receiver back into the tv that only has a coaxial...
