5! I disagree. The difference between Raiders and Temple are quite large. Film grain consistency is not equal and DNR work is visible. Bit-rates and also too low to resolve the film grain. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade is where the DNR work gets really bad, that along with low bit-rates...
I appreciate you getting back to me. It's something I noted on in my review. I must say, it's a little off-putting, and some viewers like myself who see any "picket fencing" (like you say) or FPS issue I pick up on right away. I assume that these could no be corrected? It's like there are frames...
Hi,
I rewatched My Fair Lady tonight on 4K and wrote down some timestamps of things I see. I'd like your feedback on them.
SOME TECHNICAL THINGS I SAW
I rewatched My Fair Lady again. I wrote down some time of some of the frame smearing that I saw.
1 hr 40 seconds
"Just you wait Henry...
Well, stutters is probably the wrong word, there are 2 sections that I saw in the movie where the frame rate was not 24p. It is less. I also saw 2 micro stutters where it looked as though 1 frame was missing.
There's a couple of things I've never picked up on before. One of them is frame rate stutters, and frame rate skips. 2 scenes have frame rate stutters, and 2 scenes had a 1 frameskip. I think they tried to use frame rate smoothing, but it was obvious to me. Another thing that is more obvious is...
Pretty sure that this movie is just using SDR in a HDR wrapper right? HDR is around 300 nits, and clips out. Not sure why they did this, why cap out the dynamic range of HDR?
I thought this movie looked soft with a 2k scan. The grain is also soft, which make encoding the movie difficult. This causes grain to crawl with moving images, panning images. There are a couple instances of edge enhancement and halo-ing also.
This movie has a great stylized look, but that...
Its probably 1 or 2 seconds after that point. Will be testing it on other equipment to be 100% sure, but the distortion is definitely there in that scene.
Thank you. I'll just say audio distortion next time, I didn't realize people wouldn't know or infer what the term meant.
So 45 mins, 44 seconds is one example of distortion. The actual distortion comes around a second or 2 after this point.
I can't justify giving audio 5/5 when its obvious the audio has tearing issues. How can you review something at a perfect score when you hear issues on the master? How can video get 4.9 out of 5 when there are imperfections?
Obviously this is my opinion, but I've been looking closely at...
Video is certainly not reference thats for sure, color bleed is a real issue on this disc in some scenes. Audio tearing is also an issue, and is certainly not 5/5
Watching the movie now, looks amazing. The title sequence is poor, with color bleed and more... you called these dupe shots, however what do you call transition shots from one scene end to another? Because, they are also poor, its like there is a 50% resolution and color loss every scene or reel...
Yeah, sorry about the original tone guys, was just really frustrated that what Im seeing others are not seeing. Im going to see if I can take the disc to a high end home theater store and play all the scenes. To see if its some issue on my end for some reason.
I have my TV ISF professionally...
Latest firmware update, and factory defaulted every firmware update. Im going to try and get to a high end home theater store to check what Im seeing on my end is the same as a really high end setup.
EXAMPLES OF EPISODE 7 SCALING ERRORS
0:13 Sean Beans name, low res source.
This continues for the entire intro sequence, where names are low res, and have color bleed issues.
0:16 Mark Addy name, a great example of low res stair stepping errors. Looks terrible, Poor scaling and red and greens...
I just checked your review out for Game of Thrones and believe you have missed some serious errors in the collection. Ep7 has huge scaling, stair stepping / anti aliasing issues. Tested on 2 different UHD players and 3 different TV's and it still shows the errors.
The words on the intro of ep7...
Sorry for the double post... Compatibility issues? Even with the 360 HD Drive? I know the specs are different with the gen 2's, but why is Joe Having so much trouble? Will DVE offer the best HD visuals ever seen on HD DVD?
