Chris, You want something for nothing? You want impressive, but you don't have the dollars for that in your room. Get the best you can afford, then just calibrate, sit back and enjoy. For around $400 get the PB10 ISD and be done with it. Des.

I had one, it lasted 4 months before I got a grown mans sub. SVS PB12 Plus/2. In all seriousness, the DefTech was fine but did not have the smoothest FR and didn't really go that low, 30Hz maybe. Des.

Go the auto cal route to get you going. Then get a RatShack Analogue SPL meter, and refine your setup. Plenty of threads here and on other forums to tell you how cal your sub. I took the same route. Des.
