Let the wires be free I would put the rear speakers on little tables as close to "the right spot" as you can. I even have one of mine sitting on the floor (not the greatest sound but better than naught) Those rears are typically used for brief moments or to fill in background noise so they...
Most importantly go out and listen and decide for yourself. Its like asking what car to buy or what are the best jeans? I like sporty hatch backs and Gap jeans. How bout you?
I am curious what prompted you to feel you needed this? A lightning strike is not a surge btw if it can make it from a cloud to your house I very much doubt a tiny fuse blowing will stop it. Is your electricity particularly dirty? I grew up with a kid whose lights were always flickering due to...
Careful when you purchase the HDMI card. HDMI is capable of sound and video but it can be for just video. For example if you have a video card with HDMI out it will probably not output sound as well. Make sure it will do both.
I'm not familiar with this exact receiver but typically they don't like to mix analogue (RCA) with digital (HDMI) signals. like HDMI video and RCA audio... there could be a setting for each input on what to use? Make sure the RCA is plugged into the same named input as the HDMI for a start.
Ok when you say older Hitachi you need to be more specific. It would help us greatly to have a model number... It would also help us to know what you plan to watch on your TV (xbox, ps3, cable box, blu ray, Laser Disc, Wii, VCR, etc) I'll tell you why. If you don't have an HDMI input on your TV...
Well... I had not heard of Elan until right now, but looking at ebay for parts, depending what is left (the "etc" was a little vague) but if you have only the wires and the cameras and speakers but no electronics: amps TVs sources. Depending on how big your house is, how many cameras, TVs...
I would stay away from apple TV if these downloaded files of yours are ill gotten ie: from bit torrent or the like... it won't play them without some serious work... I would say Roku or if you have any interest in a gaming console both of the big ones are great media hubs (with the edge to the...
I would direct you to Crutchfield.com they have some great articles on Home Theater stuff. Here is one which gives an overview of receivers http://www.crutchfield.com/learn/learningcenter/home/receivers.html?g=10400
I wouldn't sugar coat it for this guy... you will fail. Not because of the market conditions or because of the global recession but because you don't know anything about it. You want to open a business and you can't even name the companies that make the products you want to sell???? Thats like...
looks good, how does it sound? Dont worry too much what other people think the speaker sounds like. If it sounds good to you that is the BEST speaker there is.
It sounds like the receiver is trying to output to a center channel when there is none. I would look for a setup on the Yamaha and make sure the center is off.
I can't help with the microphone issue... the trouble you may be having is that you are trying to amplify two signals at once? the song and the mic? The budget needs to be a little more explicit than not over the top. I know a guy who has 7 $1000 monoblock amps to power his home theater and this...
ok you are experiancing the trouble with some HTiB which is lack of inputs... What I would do is plug your PS3 HDMI into the TV and then the SPDIF optical into the RCA unit. you can set the PS3 to output this way. Is your cable through a box? if so you might need to get an optical selector...
Just to be clear you are shopping in India? And that would mean you are Indian? If so congratulations on your very good English! Next Sam might be confusing you with some local phrases and traditions. Putting the names and models in a hat and Eenie meenie minie mo is an old saying to help...
I have been looking to do something similar. I have a center to match my towers but am looking for a 5 speaker set to add surrounds and wides or heights etc. Anyway what I have been looking at is the Mirage sat speakers. They seem quality built and the omnipolar design seems to be good for...
Images of both the cable box and the back of the TV. Is it a monitor or a TV?
I have split coax cables before and it works just fine, but you are routing through a cable box and I have no idea about cable TV service in S. Korea.
Hey Justin, You are a lucky man, living in endwell (I grew up in Ithaca and lived in Johnson City for a year) very close to three top end speaker stores. In order of distance:
Audio Classics in Vestal http://www.audioclassics.com/
They specialize in McIntosh, (pronounced Macintosh) a very...
You have an opportunity that most do not by having a fresh start. At this point it would be easy to run rear speaker wire. People frown on it because it isn't wireless like Sam said. Think about every wireless device you have ever used... Phone, game controllers, laptop, radio, anything. What do...
That was my error...I was thinking too quickly. Was PCM once only 2 channel or maybe I'm thinking of TVs outputing only 2 channel pcm via optical... is there some instance where PCM is only two channel  Or am i just wrong?
Edit here is what i was thinking of (second post)...
How bout this for a deal?????? http://www.frys.com/product/6230180?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG $50?????? Probably an error but if they will honor it someone has to grab it.
Hello, you have a lot of questions lol and I'm gonna try and answer them all :)
First what kind of receiver do you use? or what amplification do you have?
LPCM is linear PCM ( I don't know what PCM means lol) is the source player decoding the audio and is only 2.0 channel audio.Edit to...
Ron you are correct those all are inputs except for the Digital Optical out in the bottom left corner.
Ty there is no way to connect speaker wire directly to this TV. So you are correct you will need something to go between your TV and the speakers. What you need is a little more involved...
