Actually, its rather simple to control the 3808 over your network from your pc or laptop. All you really need is your IP address for the 3808 on your network, and you can control basic things like volume, muting, inputs, etc. No additional software necessary. It really depends what you want to...
I am surprised you are having such poor video quality problems on your pc just from playing a standard DVD. What are your technical specs on your pc? In my experience I have had great results upscaling standard DVD's on mine, and HDDVD/Bluray discs play flawlessly on my combo drive using...
So long as your receiver has multi channel inputs you can connect up to 7.1 surround sound with a few RCA stereo to 3.5MM jack cables. If your receiver does not have multichannel inputs, you can still use a single cable to connect stereo sound through RCA jacks.
I consider a decent HTiB a great "gateway drug" into the realm of home theater. I started out with a simple JVC HTiB 6 years ago with a 27" tv, and now, well... lets just say I've grown.... My dedicated home theater has towers, 7.1, etc..., but my family room has a nice little Yamaha HTiB and...
Hey folks, I am a new owner of the HD-DVD add-on for the 360, and I was wondering what the consensus was on the sound quality on the WMA audio option, compared to DD or DTS. I did a quick look through this thread and couldn't find any info. Thanks for your help! Update: I found the info I...
What he's saying is that on a fixed pixel, digital display like that LCD flat panel, the tv already "upconverts" the image to fit the native resolution of the set. The upconverting DVD player does the same thing externally from the tv, but may or may not do as good a job as the processor built...
I just picked this up the other day, never seen it before. I'm wondering if there is something wrong with my copy. I began watching the feature, when I noticed somewhere around chapter 6, the golf course scene, the color went haywire on me. Everything went sort of a reddish brown and aqua...
I have placed two inexpensive Ikea table lights behind both front speakers in my system, and it looks great. http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/store...umber=00095588 The glass is frosted, and using low wattage bulbs creates the soft lighting I needed. with one on either side of the tv, it...
I use the Digital Video Essentials DVD, and find it quite helpful. Lots of information on the disc, and there is a good tutorial for beginners and amateurs alike. Steve G. is correct, however. Since I've bought the disc, I've become quite obsessed in persuing the perfect image on my tv.
What "mode" is your receiver in? Is it in "all channel stereo"? You want it in either DTS or Dolby Digital for surround sound. Also, make sure you have it hooked up using the digital audio output/input.
The xbox does support dolby digital and DTS. While it will display anything from 480p to 1080i for certain video games, its video output for dvd's is strictly 480i.
Hi, I'm in Montreal also, with Illico. We get very few HD channels with videotron. There are tons more in the US, and Bell Expressvu has more than Illico as well. 21 channels, I think.
Hey guys, need some opinions on this: I picked up a universal fit shelf to place on top of my tv to mount my center channel just above the tv, as opposed to below on the stand, where it currently resides. Being married, anything I do to the house needs her say as well, and she isn't crazy about...
Hi Matt, My HT setup is quite similar, actually. I built mine in the basement as well, 28' X approx 15', with the viewing area in the front half of the 28' length. I have a supporting column in the middle of the room which dictates how far back I can situate the couch. My center channel is...
I can't be sure, because I have no EA games, but its possible that EA has pulled their online support on xbox live. Technically, its not Microsoft's LIVE service that gives online support to EA games, but EA's own online service. They have no obligation to support it any longer than they see...
THere are many media center PCs available on the market that will give you the capability to play dvds, record on the HDD, and have internet access. Most even have a remote control. For the VHS, you'll have to use a separate player.
I was aware of the risks when we were changing the floor, but the room isn't a fully dedicated HT, nor was keeping the carpet an option. The basement was in desperate need of an overhaul, and I got an insane deal on the flooring through a friend in the business. That being said, I love the new...
I recently renovated my basement where my HT resides, repainted and removed my shabby old carpet and replaced it with laminate floating floors. I had expected some echo to come as a result, but its a bit more than I expected. I would like folks to tell me what are some good methods on reducing...
Hey, thanks for the replies. I pretty much figured it would be ok to run them behind the baseboards. its strictly the speaker wire thats passing there, and the insulation on the wires is pretty good. Hopefully everything will be back together over the weekend.
On the other hand, optical cable is far more fragile, so if its going to pass any tight places where it could get pinched or kinked, or get a sharp 90 degree turn, you are better off with coax.
Hello all, I am currently renovating my HT room (repainting and installing new flooring), and was considering "cleaning up" the wires a bit by running my speaker wire hidden behind the new baseboard moldings along the floor. I have standard 14 guage OFC speaker wire. I know that "In-wall"...
Running MCACC shouldn't do that, nor would using a digital input on one source have any adverse affect on any other analog connections. I have the same Pioneer receiver, with 3 different digital and 2 analog connections, and have no problems. Check that the receiver is set to "auto" detect for...
Yeah, the ASP-4000 is a 10". I find it is great for music. I have it matched to Athena speakers all around for my system. I probably use my system 50% of the time for music, the other 50% for home theatre. I find its great for both applications. I listen to all kinds of music; classical, jazz...
I have the ASP-4000, and am a big fan. I never compared it to the dayton, but have tried a couple other subs, and liked it enough to buy. I actually tried the ASP-6000 first, but found it too powerful for my application, so I switched for the 10" and haven't looked back.
Well, when I bought my house, the basement was already finished. The main panel is enclosed in a small cabinet on the wall, and there is insulation around the main panel within the cabinet, much like the scenario you described. I don't believe there is anything behind the actual service panel...
I too have the pioneer 1015, and all those other listening modes you are talking about are so called "enhanced" surround modes. They are essentially EQ presets for various multichannel sources, and will affect how the source sounds. Each setting might play with the highs, the lows, the mids...
Definitely stay away from any HTIB with the DVD and receiver built in one unit. You will be much happier buying a separate sound system and a progressive scan dvd player. You will have more options, and better sound quality.
Well, I gave the LG 7832 a try for the first time today. Managed to find one on clearance at a local store. I decided to try it out with "Finding Nemo" first, and I can only describe my experience as disappointing. Right off the bat I was experiencing macro blocking. Not just in the shadows...
