I've got 20s up front, adp470s on the side, and 20s in the rear (20s were sides before I got the adps, 10x15 room made them very localizable on occasion) all being driven by the 1014. It will do the job, but I think I'd be happier with something more robust. I'm not passing judgement on it until...
Yeah I was going for 3k budget, throw the other 500 in and you could do better for sure on the receiver. I had the 1014 with some old 5ses and atoms for rears... and then heard the 20s, which led to two pair, and then got a deal on the ADPs... so yeah, I've out speakered the hell out the 1014...
$3000? 1 Pair Studio 20s = 800 1 Pair Studio 20s = 800 1 CC 470 = 600 1 SVS PB10 = 400 (might need bigger depending on room size) 1 Pioneer 1015 = 400 3000. ;) If you have a narrow room, or small centered seating you could skip the center and maybe shoot for a bigger SVS... or whatever...
I just dropped some ADP470s in as the sides in a 6.1 setup. So far, for movies, well, I'm still getting used to it, but I think I like it. The envelopement is seamless.
I think a lot depends on your room. In my 9.5'X15 room, the Studio 20s I was running as sides (atoms in the rear) could be...
heh, I have the same sub as Matt, except mine is still naked MDF. Looks like ass over in the corner. Plus, my wife wanted it to have a small footprint, so it's about 3 feet tall. Which makes it look even worse unfinished, as you cannot miss the big bastard. Everyone laughs at it. Until they...
Given the amount of saber battles in this one, if they had done the bass like AOTC, Grievous alone would have destroyed the houses that had capable subwoofers... bet it would have been fun though. One interesting thing I noticed, the wife complains about the volume at -20, prefers it around...
The speaker mounts from the front. Thus, once you have the box built, you screw the speaker down from the outside, with the some weather stripping, etc. behind it make a seal.
Go electric, quiet, lightweight, and cut just fine. Creating the electricity they use is considerably less pollution than what gas powered models put out. Perfect for half acre or less.
harumph. "not listening to what the artist intended..." And exactly what sort of stereo system did the artist intend? Obviously the boom box in my garage is stereo... is that good enough? a $400 system? $8000 system? An Ipod wonderfully compressed with horrible freq response earbuds? Let's...
Sadly, that's commonplace these days. When I graduated college in 93, I had 2000 limit. I maxed it, got another card with 2k limit, maxed it, someone gave me another card with a 4k limit... Maxed it. I had no job at any point during that, and the first card was being paid late if at all when I...
And since they can lobby for free, and have public interest at heart, this law in no way is geared toward helping them. (sarcasm) They've only been pushing for bankruptcy "reform" for what 15 years now? Longer? Thank god they finally got it, cause obviously the country is suffering from all...
I imagine that's the case. I tend to update mine in bunches with approximate dates. And since this "movies are like books, you should own everyone you like" affliction has hit me, I'm tracking to prove that it's not a complete waste of money. Gotta start knocking some different titles out though.
Go buy Titan A.E. ($5 at Target) and play chapter 16. Put sub in corner, tweak volume on AVR and sub amp until your skull rattles. If the pb10 is hitting 15hz in your room, you will know it. Although, honestly, AOTC chapter 2 flyby should be tangible at high enough volumes.
oh hell, I just erased all of this. anyway. Room is 9.5'Wx15.5'Lx8'H. with a 3.5'x7' opening into the kitchen which has an opening into the laundry room and one into the living room. Port is absolutely no longer than 11.5" and is flared. Sub appears to be tuned between 18hz and 20hz...
Almost positive the port is only 11". Given the box's outer dimensions, it can't possibly be larger than 6.0 cu ft, unless the eggcrate I used was extra fluffy and it just thinks it's bigger. Soooo I'm left with 3 things, either I suck with an SPL meter, the test tones I'm using are not what...
Sadly, I took no pics of the construction. I modeled a little bit with WinISD, poked around in Unibox, and found a spreadsheet that would model the actual box by volume for you. With those and the suggested box size for the quatro, I just started putting things together. For fun, and from...
DIY 15" Quatro complete -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wow. Damn. Cool. Built pretty much to specs ~ 5.5 cu ft box, 4" port that right now is about 11" long (short story involving beer and a flimsy hacksaw) and PE 240w amp. Oh, and...
www.earthquakeauthority.com Hey hey, I work there. :) And given all the private/public disclosure and random political things that go on with this agency... that is all I'll say about that. That being said, if I lived in an earthquake prone area I'd have earthquake insurance. "And...
