I can't say I see anything different from the original broadcasts. I had recorded these episodes on my VCR when they originally were broadcast. I had an issue with the quality of the first few episodes of season 4 back then. I just watched the first DVD on Starburst 4.1. I see the same issues...
Chris, I had the same price range for a sub. After reading everyone's opinion on multiple web-sites, I've basically decided on the HSU STF-1 for $399 Cdn list. I'll be picking it up next week. HSU has a dealer network in Canada. You maybe able to haggle down from there. The Canadian...
I have to make a decision between the Yamaha 2500 (last one) and Marantz 5600. The Marantz is actually $85US cheaper. Both new. Both with full factory warranties. I like both for different reasons. 50/50 Music and movies. Room is 12x20x7.5. Your help is appreciated.
I had my sub fixed a year ago at a dedicated speaker repair shop. They were the authorized repair shop for many speaker brands. I asked them what brand of speaker they had seen most in for repair. All three of the guys in the back said Fluance, with no hesitation. I'll always remember that.
Racial issues aside. If you are a store owner or even a pee-on closing up. If someone like Oprah or Donald Trump comes to the door 15 minutes late, you open the door. A sales is a sale! Be it a celebrity or just someone with money to burn. I am suprised by how many retailers who turn away...
I have the Pioneer 1014. I had the Yamaha 1400, Onkyo 602 & the Pioneer 1014 on my short list. I heard each of them but unfortunately each in a different store. I liked them all. The only reason I got the Pioneer was price. There was a good opportunity and I took it. No regrets. As for the...
I do a fair bit of traveling. One thing that I noticed was the collection of Farcscape DVD at Barnes & Noble. Has anyone bought DVDs from them? I haven't really compared prices?
Another way to compare speakers is to look at the specs. Oh ya! Bose doesn't give you the specs, at least not to the extent that everyone else does. Also, ChrisCan brings up a great point. Would you trust any manufacturer that can't be compared side by side to their competition because they...
To keep my wife happy, I put in ceiling speakers for the surround and rear channels of my 7.1 system. I know its not optimum but its discreet. I had a problem with the sound not encompassing me. I went to a 7.1 system from a 5.1. That helped a lot. I love it and can live with it till my kids...
John, Your looking for products and knowledge more assocaited with stores like Sounds of Music and General Audio. Sounds of Music carries pretty much all the brands you listed. They are not exactly cheap but I have found the prices fair and the knowledge quite good. J
I got one about 5 months ago. I went from a decent Kenwood 5.1 system to a full 7.1 system with the Pioneer 1014. After everthing was installed, hooked up and used the mic-setup. I played a Star Wars DVD with my wife and kids in the room. I got a really big smile from each of them, which was...
Wow, is my hearing off that far from mainstream? Maybe going from Sony speakers to Athena to PSB Image has distorted my perception? I better go get my hearing checked. To the batcave...
I would recommend you also have a listen to PSB speakers. I find the Image line pretty neutral. Other brands I have found neutral have been Athena and to a lesser extent B&W. J
Wow, with all the press that A/V cables have been getting, I'm surprised that anyone still tries this crap. Stick with what Larry and Andrew have suggested and you'll be just fine. J :emoji_thumbsup:
1. There are a lot of reasons for the price difference. Tariffs and exchange is just the tip of the iceberg. You can also compare a market of 30 Million people and one with over 300 Million. It was written up in one of my magazines once, wish I kept it. 2. The warranty is not really void...
Doug, I also agree with Colin. As long as they are a sponsor and keep their marketing and sales stuff in the right forum, I'm alright with it. HTF needs to be a resource. But if the Sales & Marketing stuff go outside the right forum, then the hammer should drop. J
You've asked a question with a lot of answers. There are reasons for both. For 7.1: - some 7.1 receivers can do 5.1 and having two channels left for a sperate 2nd zone. - A low end 7.1 receiver usually has an easier time driving a 5.1 setup. i.e. watts/channel. - Upgradability is an issue...
Good conversations. One thing that hasn't been mentioned is that people are having quality problems with the new *02 Onkyos. Do a search with this and the other audio sites to find more deatiled info. J
Your sub will produce more of the lower end sound then your towers. A cross-over of 100 is a good starting point. So from your notes: You've set all the speakers to small. (If my Pioneer is set to large then no subwoofer will be used.) You've set the receiver to "Sub On". Checked that...
Is there a sitting for the size of speakers? If you set your fronts to "Large" then the sub will not be used. You need to set your fronts to "small". J
Thanks Michael. I'm hoping that Farscape does get picked up. As for SG-1. I hope it survives and even improves with the addition of Ben. Its going to be tough though, its always a little scary when main characters are moved away from the core content. Any idea what is going to happen to the...
