err, I have the Denon and I do not necessarily think the DACS are better than the Elite. The Elite is a superb player and its ability to output high def audio by firewire is a huge advantage. I suspect they sound similar through the analog outputs, but both should be great.:)
Curious what you think of the woofer on the Optimus. I have read its pretty bad and does not blend well with the ribbon. Also do you wall mount them and if so how?
Mike is right. I never cease to be amazed by the hyperbole employed by some people to compare good products. It is not enough to prefer one speaker over another, one must be great, the other "crap." I have heard two of the three speakers referred to in this thread and they were both good...
'More musical" is another imprecise term that basically means that I like how my sub sounds better than the sub you are looking at.:) Reality is that a number of companies make great subs. For optimum sound quality correct placement and calibration is essential.
You have a lot of distance available so I would consider monopoles matching your front speakers. Much better for music and very good for movies when you have the room you do for the sound to click into focus. Most folks today who go with dipoles do so due to a lack of room between the rears and...
Any one heard this speaker? Looking at it as a potential surround in my ML system. Dealer does not stock it and not likely to except for special orders. Tried the ML Club site a couple of times asking same question with no response. Any experience would prove helpful;)
I have four ohm speakers so this type of technology is not practical for me since I like my Martin Logans. BTW, heard one of the Sony digital receivers earlier in the year and was not impressed.
I have both. When I played the Greatest dvd on my Denon 2900, the DVD-A light did not come on, which made me think it was not hi res. The light does come on when the Harvest dvd is played.
I have owned Denon in the past and it is good gear. This whole process sounds like deja vu all over again. People were making the same comments when the 5800 came out, and this thing will be obsolete in about 18 months since progress will be made and this unit will fall behind. I think it will...
Ideally, on most material without discrete sound sources, the surrounds should not be noticable unless you turn them off, in which case the soundfield just shrinks forward and seems smaller. That said this is a hobby and for fun not brain surgery. Enjoy!;)
Well, in subs size is important. The SVS is much better than what he is replacing for a lot less money than the Rocket. The Rocket also has no real output below 30 hz and that is important for most movie listeners. The ACI Force is a very good, small sealed sub with much better sub 30 hz output...
Frequency graphs are nice but except for really bad speakers, are of little value. Most competently designed speakers have good anechoic graphs. How they sound in your room may be very different. You obviously do not listen to the graph. Rocket has a thirty day listening period after purchase...
Point is how it sounds. Mark would not have included the amp if he did not think it made a major contribution to the sound of the speakers. The amplified woofer will also be compatible with the R-DES EQ system soon to be released. IMO I think the best use for the sub in the 1000s is for high def...
Sounds like you need to look at a new stand for equipment and your center. Bello makes some very nice stands with plenty of room for a center and components. Pricey but nice. Many other brands out there. You might also go to a custom installer with some of your own hand made drawings for what...
You always get a boost when you add a power amp but I have been driving a Martin Logan home theater setup with the 1056 for a few months and it does quite well.;)
My vote for Ed too. I know very little about the science surrounding subwoofer design and placement, so I find his reviews incredibly informative since his only goal is to impart information to the forum and not sell advertising or a snooty attitude. Given his strong knowledge in this area, he...
I am well aware of the reputation of ACI. They are both great companies. I guess I will have to decide which sub is better in my circumstances. Do want to hear (feel?) that bass extension in LOTR:emoji_thumbsup: The sub that can do that and make my music sound full range will get my vote.
