Received the new "Murder On The Orient Express," and while it's nice to see the credits corrected, what's odd is that nearly all of the color tint design that was used in the newspaper montage at the beginning of the film has been removed. The newspapers are now completely black and white...
A couple of threads I've read on other forums are also reporting region free on the UK disc. As I said, it loaded right up for me on an Oppo BDP-93. Haven't tried it on my 103 yet, but I expect the same result.
I have the same UK 4-Disc set. With my player set for Region A, it loaded just fine. It went right to a language select menu (German, French, or English), I selected English and was on my way!
I have the Mill Creek DVD edition of "White Line Fever." It is part of their "40th Anniversary Series," and is indeed 16x9 anamorphic. I had the original Letterbox MOD version, so this is definitely an upgrade.
My blu-ray also lists 305 minutes on the back. There are some lengthy extras, but I agree that it probably wouldn't add up to that runtime. Misprint, possibly? I see the section in the booklet where they break down the Part 1 and 2 runtimes, but if you continue reading, the essay goes on to...
I also just received the blu-ray from Poland. Since I'm at work, I briefly popped it into my office player for a spot check. Granted, the image looks fantastic, but on the disc I received, the film runs only 185 minutes in total. Reading through the booklet, it seems that the director decided...
Interesting for me. I pre-ordered this ages ago from Amazon at the $99 price. It showed up today, and I was only billed $25.48 plus $2.29 tax. Guess Amazon really does honor their lowest price promise!
Talked about this in the international section, but thought that posters here might also be interested:
Just received the French Blu-ray of "The Kremlin Letter." It is marked Region B on the back cover, but plays in my Oppo when it is set for Region A, so it looks like it's region free...
Just received the French Blu-ray of "The Kremlin Letter." It is marked Region B on the back cover, but plays in my Oppo when it is set for Region A, so it looks like it's region free. Subs are removable with the subtitle button once the movie starts to play.
I have it. Two versions of the film: the complete American version, and a shorter European version. Nice transfer, better than my old non-anamorphic DVD. Subtitles are removable with the subtitle button on my remote, once the movie starts playing.
No call saying my discs had shipped, but surprise, surprise! They arrived today! Five discs that include Season One/Vol. 2/Disc 2, Season One/Vol. 2/Disc 3, Season Two/Vol. 1/Disc 4, Season Three/Vol.1/Disc 2, and Season Three/Vol. 1/Disc 3. They come shrink wrapped together with a label that...
Have just received the Park Circus version of "Farewell, My Lovely." I've only spot checked it, but it is indeed 16x9 anamorphic with the best looking transfer of this film I've seen on the DVD format. Definitely happy I picked it up.
I have the set and experienced the same problem. I'm into Disc 2 at this point and have seen no other problems. Looks like an authoring or pressing issue.
Haven't watched any full episodes yet, just spot checked a few. They look good, on par with the Season Three release from Infinity. Honestly, despite the fact that a handful of episodes are slightly edited, I'm just happy to have the whole series at this point. I had watched all three...
My "Route 66" set just arrived from Shout Factory. Took a quick look at a couple of episodes I knew were cut on the first Infinity pressing. Specifically "A Fury Slinging Flame" and "Blue Murder."
They're still cut. In fact, "A Fury Slinging Flame" now carries a slate before the start of the...
To Ed: If you have an OPPO, you should be able to reposition the subtitles off screen. Hold down the subtitle button, a prompt should appear. You then use the arrow keys to shift the subtitles off the screen. Hit enter. Just remember to reset your subs back after you're done watching, as the...
Had a similar experience with Best Buy and their online stock counts on Sunday. Really wanted "Pelham," so I showed up at the local store twenty minutes after opening and they were all sold out. There are about ten stores in my area that are easily reachable by car, so I used my phone to check...
Watched this DVD of The Burglars over the weekend. It is a 4:3 non-anamorphic letterbox transfer that is fairly decent, much better than the Alfa Digital version that came out a few years ago. There is a French audio track and a German audio track, but contrary to the info on the cover there...
"The Devils" Spanish DVD release just arrived at my office. Popped it into my computer for a quick peek. It's non-anamorphic 4:3 letterbox. Image is 2:35. Run time is 103 minutes. Languages are Spanish and English with Spanish subtitles. Was able to turn subtitles off. Transfer is...
Ordered my set from Amazon and it arrived this past Wednesday.
The overall product is pretty inconsistent. Quality of the various episodes ranges from tolerable to almost unwatchable. Elements used seem to cover everything from scratchy, splicy 16mm film to VHS bootlegs. Visually, nothing...
Just got the set yesterday, and was only able to randomly sample episodes, but some of the episodes were definitely not time compressed. Again, the episodes with the fuller run times on that Amazon list seem to be the ones without compression, although I did not have time to check them all...
To be honest, I'm not totally familiar with all of the various opens in the series. Haven't seen it in a number of years. That being said, the opens are definitely cut short, where a sponsor message would have come in. There are no bumpers and no next time voiceovers. Regarding time...
Just got the set today and have some insight. Initially, I confirmed the short run times listed, but only because I was scanning the episodes! When I hit those marks, the image went into some weird fast forward mode and jumped to the end of the episode, but the time counter did not jump forward...
Here's my "Worst Buy" story. Pre-ordered the two "Sci-Fi Seventies" sets from the Best Buy on-line site and arranged for in store pickup. Stop by the store after work. No order waiting for me behind the counter. It takes two people twenty minutes of searching on the computer and through the...
Watched it last night. It is indeed anamorphic with a new 5.1 remix. Considering the low budget nature of the film, it probably looks and sounds about as good as it ever will. Definitely a huge step up over the previous Rhino release, which seems to have been taken from some old washed out...
