So I'm guessing Jennifer Aniston will never, ever watch this movie, right? ;) A little disappointed that it the Unrated cut wasn't released on BD. I found that one a bit better.
I have an A2 and haven't had any problems with the 2.7 update. The Last Samurai is a bit louder now. I can watch it at -25db now instead of -18db before the update.
I'm using a HDMI>DVI cable as I have a CRT HDTV with a DVI connection only. Not sure if that's affecting things. Still, everything looks fine with the black level setting "on." ETA: Hmm, I've since set the black level back to "off" and everything looks fine. Go figure!
Not directly related to the Star Trek commentaries but I can't stand listening to commentary tracks where the participants clearly aren't watching the movie "live." It just sounds very off to me.
I'm currently re-watching DS9 too. I'm in the latter parts of Season 3 at the moment and still loving this show.
Anyone else noticed the significant change in the cinematography between seasons 1-2 and the remainder of the series? Starting with S3, the station's interior lighting became...
I figured that would be the case as pretty much every major action release these days gets the barebones & SE treatment. Nice to hear a semi-official word though. Now, just wondering if it'll be 2 or 3 discs (4 is pushing it for this kind of movie).
Hey, I just figured out how they can get Grimlock and the other Dinobots in the next movie while still fitting in the "Robots in Disguise" logic of the first movie. The Dinobots crash land on Isla Sorna/Nublar from the Jurassic Park movies and take the forms of the resident dinos. With Spielberg...
Totally agree about the commentary track. It's a fantastic listen to really understand why and how Kapur made his movie. And in what I think is a fascinating idea, Kapur would like to make a third Elizabeth movie with Cate in about ten years which would examine the very end of her reign...
I think that the "bigger and bolder" look of The Golden Age has to do with the evolution of the character of Elizabeth. In the first movie, she is surrounded by enemies and her reign seems tenuous at best. But in TGA, her reign is far more secure and England is much better off. I can't wait...
That's also intentional. I really like the look of this show, especially those really fast zoom-in shots for the space scenes. I love Star Trek but it's such a contrast in its visual aesthetic. Even DS9, the darkest and grittiest of the series, is very classical and sweeping in its shot...
Loreena McKennit's "The Mystic's Dream" was also use in TNT's The Mists of Avalon twice. Nina Gordon's really nice song has shown up twice for me. Once for the trailer for Captain Corelli's Mandolin and for TV commercials for The Notebook. I'm a big fan of the wail and/or "exotic" scores...
Well, this is my favourite movie of all time and its present DVD status is deplorable. We're talking VHS quality video here. I'd love Dangerous Liaisons to get the SE treatment.
I thought the show was too safe and PC. The show was about Satan's daughter, Christina, washing up (literally) into a small town and being all conflicted over her heritage. In every episode, she would get angry and start to go all Carrie on her enemies but would always relent and back off. I...
Amanda Woodward first showed up late in season 1. And thank God she did because she totally saved that show from cancellation. Her "Special Guest Star" credit was hilarious!
The new (and very beautiful) Disney logo will always be associated with Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest to me because it was the first movie to use it. New Line = LOTR Paramount = Star Trek Universal = Jurassic Park (I love the logo they used in the early/mid 90s a lot more than...
As someone who actually like Alexander (and owns both versions of it!), I'm looking forward to this edition and will sell off the other two. No idea what Warner will call it (The Director's Cut v2.0!). If Stone gets Oscar buzz for World Trade Centre, then I can see Warner fast-tracking the...
Sorry for the double post but here's the first review: http://www.dvdreview.com/reviews/pages/2378.shtml Can't wait. I didn't have HBO back when this aired (TMN in Canada) but I'll be ready when S2 airs next year!
I went to Best Buy, Future Shop, and Starstruck Entertainment (a DVD only store) and none of them had this available. Maybe the Canadian release has been delayed.
