There might be another fuse at the other end of the power wire for this amp (at least it was standard practice where I used to install to have both). It should be connected to the battery or the connecting block under the hood...look there for a blown fuse. Even if he can't find the other fuse...
Fosgate is not Rockford Fosgate the car audio company. Fosgate the HT theater company and the man (Jim Fosgate, I believe) was a pioneer in the surround processor market and there current electronics are quite good. That said, I've never heard their speakers or seen a review of them.
I have a DPR2005 and have been using it daily for 18 months. I'm very pleased (and surprised) by how good this reciever sounds. I fully expected to not love it and move it to a secondary system (or return it) before I used it, now it's staying in my main system until I feel like buying a real...
I have an LC-37HV6U (older LCD then yours) and I've used two progressive scan DVD players on component inputs and not had any problems, so I would guess your problem is either the player or the cables. You might try to borrow another player and set of component cables and try that out.
You can't go wrong with any of the Harmonys. They are easy to program and anyone can learn to use it within a few minutes. I'm not saying the Pronto is not a damn good remote , just that the Harmonys are more user friendly and easier to program.
There was a thread last week about someone having a problem with gaming on a DLP. The problem was the processing the TV does creates a delay making gaming on the set difficult for some games and impossible on others. I can't remember which model Samsung he had or which forum I read it on (here...
I can't really help you with the NR question but I clean my Sharp Lcd with a 50/50 mix of alcohol/distilled water and a good quality microfiber cloth. I buy waynestowels.com or tropi-care.com MF cloths b/c they are very well known in the automotive circles for having quality MF towels that won't...
I like the sound of the Canton's over the lesser JMlabs models but you should listen to both using your own music and pick the ones that sound the best to you.
I have NHT SB3s in one system and B&W601S3s in another system. The B&Ws are about $450/pr and hard to find cheaper then that. The NHTs are $600/pr but pretty easy to find deals that are lower priced. The B&Ws are disappointing and require space around the cabinet to sound good (lots of it). The...
Instead of an emitter you connect from the block to the component using a cable with mono 1/8" headphone jack on each end. I use this on my HK recvr for zone 2 and it works perfectly. If you are not sure what to buy, take an emitter to the store with you and ask for a cable with that connector...
I would recommend getting a wireless amplifier and adding your own surround speakers that "match" the front stage. I have a wireless Radio Shack amp that I was using for my rear surround before I could run wires and now I use it to power my outdoor speakers. The RS amp is about $100. Kenwood...
Never, ever, ever autocross or race with heavy loose items in the car. Put quick disconnects on the box and take it OUT when you race!!! You mentioned L brackets, I assume you bolted the bracket to the box and then to the car...so what went wrong with this solution???
Gregg can probably verify this but I had Steve Martin (the calibrator, not the comedian) at my house last week to calibrate my TVs and we talked about DLPs and which ones calibrate the best. He too recommend Samsungs but only previous models (not current). The xx85, xx74, xx67 series are all...
They look pretty flimsy from the pics. You really want a stand that is heavy and ridig. If the speaker is on top of the stand and touch the speaker the stand shouldn't move and this one looks like it will. That said, if you only have $25 budget then these might do the trick. I've never found a...
I've not heard of any Aquos problems, do you have any details about what might be going with them??? I have a 2 year old 37" and it's perfect and I know probably 20-30 others that have smaller Aquos sets with no issues over 2-3 years.
Cordless drill batteries do range from 7.6v to 24v with 12-18v seeming most popular. The reason I mentioned the cordless drill batteries is that it's popular with professional installers since you always have this tool with you, nearby when doing the work, and easy to get out of the tool...it's...
You need an IR repeater system. Xantech is good brand of IR repeater hardware and many other brands are rebadged Xantech. I've found the simple "starter" kit on ASIhome.com for under $100 in the past (I have purchased 3 of these kits from them over the past few years, 2 for me, 1 for my dad)...
You might wanna reconsider the $1000 budget for the recvr/amp...that's a little low to run a room that large. Even the largest inexpensive recvrs (like the HK 7300 for $1300) might have a problem if you wish to play the system at reference levels. Although it wouldn't be a bad idea to try a 7300...
A third option if you don't have the speakers hooked to the other end of the wire is to use a "toner" (telephone man tool). The easiest option is the battery trick mentioned above and I agree, use a 1.5v battery instead of 9v (or cordless drill battery, which is common with professional installers).
Run a good quality RG6 cable and terminate yourself. This will emulate what many of the "good" internet cable vendors makes (like Blue Jeans) for a fraction of the cost.
I second the Harmony vote. I have a 688 and I love it. I will be buying an 880 and moving the 688 to another room as soon as the price on the 880 comes down a bit. The 688 is easy to find for around $150 (MSRP is $250). MSRP on the 880 is $250 and eventually will be available cheap too.
I think I understand what you are trying to do and that's run an HD set off the component (or HDMI) output and an SD set in another room off the S-video (or composite). My question back to you is do you want to be able to watch both at the same time??? Some HD STBs will output to both HD and SD...
I had the same choice to make last year for my bedroom. I watch alot of cable news on this set, usually fall asleep with it on but I'm learning to set the sleep timer :) Since this TV is on for more hours/day then any other that I own I decided LCD was the best compromise for me. Longevity seems...
You might want to try some Blu-tack to hold the speaker on the TV. It's not cheap stuff but it works great, is reusable and won't damage the speaker or the TV. One package is enough to make three little balls of the stuff for every speaker in your HT. I also use it to hold a tall skinny vase to...
Onecall.com has the DPR2005 for the same price ($799) and offers 12 months, no interest financing. I've purchased alot from them in the past year b/c of their good prices, fast delivery, reasonable shipping costs and no interest. I think I've spent over $10K in the past year with them (and still...
