Andrew, Check out e-bay or the flea market at polkaudio.com for some polkaudio rti 70 or rt800i they are some great floor speakers that could be had in your price range, both speakers are much better than the new polk monotors that just came out. mike

Steve, I own a bunch of polk speakers with a velodyne ch 10 sub and I am very pleased.Polk subs suck to put it bluntly go with the veloydyne.But from what I've researched the svs is is the way to go ,I'd try to talk him into it, I've never heard any complaints with the svs. Mike

I own a H/K 310 and it tends to run very warm as most H/K's do,mine is in a cabinet and I added a small fan inside, I can run for hours at high volumes and is almost cool to the touch,with out an external fan in that small of cabinet you are asking for trouble.Remember this "Heat Kills".
