Thanks for the info. If only one version of T2 can be included on the disc, has it been decided which version that would be? Would it be Cameron's decision to make? Also, why was the theatrical cut (thankfully) chosen for the first BD?
Van,
Does this new transfer of T1 need to be approved by Cameron as well? If so, could that hold things up?
As far as T2 is concerned, is there a reason why the original 5.1 mix will be used, and not the EX mix which was done for the Ultimate Edition?
Also, assuming that you cannot get the...
RAMBO is going to be 7.1 on BD, and EX on DVD.
Also, here is an interview on Dolby's website where Christopher Boyes, who designed the sound for KING KONG, flat out says it's EX.
Dolby - Interview with Christopher Boyes, supervising sound editor on Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
The ES track on ET was matrixed. In other words, all DTS mixes for this movie would be ES.
Also, someone on another forum spotted a list of movies which are currently being mixed in 7.1 for future BD release:
Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay
The Golden Compass
Money Talks...
Did the various parties have a falling out or something? I have to say I prefer Mike to Joel. Also, Kevin Murphy went to my high school. So for those reasons, I guess I'm more interested in the RiffTrax stuff. But I'd love to see them all get together again.
For RUSH HOUR, this is from The Digital Bits on 4/3:
"And New Line has released details of their forthcoming Rush Hour: Special Edition and Rush Hour 2: Special Edition (due on 5/22 - SRP $14.97 each). Rush Hour will include audio commentary by director Brett Ratner, isolated score with...
Thanks, Troy. Here's a few more:
Hairspray (2007)
King of New York
Pan's Labyrinth
Rush Hour
Rush Hour 3
Shoot 'Em Up
30 Days of Night
3:10 to Yuma (2007)
War
Water Horse: Legend of the Deep
And if anything, there's even more evidence now than before that King Kong, Munich, and Sky...
Has anyone had problems with THE REPLACEMENT KILLERS? I've tried 2 copies, and both play fine through the "Blu-ray is the Best Invention Since the Wheel" trailer, but when I start the movie, it freezes up every few seconds. Also, is it coincidence that all of the movies mentioned (aside from...
The more interesting part of that article is when he starts talking about the shows he watches. He seems really into ROME. I'm always fascinated by hearing him talk about other people's work. For some reason, I get the impression that he's living up on his ranch without any contact with the...
Matt, it's really one of the tamest PG-13's you'll see. In fact, the creators have talked about how they had to find stuff to add to make it PG-13. If I had a 7-year-old, I'd show it to him/her. I'd compare it to STAR WARS: EPISODE II in terms of violence.
The NewFrontier comic is only like the first sixth or something. That's like a 300 page story or something, and they're just giving you a little taste.
Ronald, I pretty much disagree with your entire last post. To me, GRINDHOUSE was a failed experiment. The idea was great, but the execution was bad. Placing DEATH PROOF inside the Grindhouse experience only compromised it. The look of the film was altered to support the gimmick and the length...
Have they actually said this? Because it doesn't work at all. It wouldn't surprise me if it were true, since Tarantino seems to have no concept of what film damage actually looks like, but I assumed it was more of a case of providing a different aesthetic for the second half. The most noticeable...
TonyD brings up some interesting points in that the film damage in this movie has absolutely no basis in reality. Sure, it's not as bad as PLANET TERROR's damage, but it still makes no sense. I love both of these movies, but I was really hoping that the video releases would eliminate the...
Unfortunately, I don't think Paul Dini worked on this one. But this was the story which got me hooked on comics, so I'm very excited to see this movie.
I guess by making it a weekly activity, there's really no reason for debate. If someone wants to watch BOOGIE NIGHTS and someone else wants to watch VERTIGO, we don't have to decide between the two, we just watch one that week and one the next. And if someone has no interest in one of those...
By selecting a movie ahead of time, we don't spend an hour and a half debating what it is we should watch. As far as who picks what we watch, it's not a democracy, it's a cheerocracy. And I'm the cheertator. But I try to pick movies that people will want to see and that have some relevance...
Mine are alphabetical. But that indecision which we all face when a group of friends is over to watch a movie led me to create the Tuesday Night Movie Club! Every Tuesday, a bunch of us get together to watch a pre-selected movie. It makes life so much easier.
Normally, I'd agree with that. But the fact that his website was originally talking about it possibly falling through, like that was a bad thing, and since, aside from his website, nothing but the very earliest reports mention additional footage, I really don't see it as a marketing ploy. If it...
