Anyonehave info on Parts Express pre-built sub? Specifically 300-635

PE 12in sub $148.88 Mainly wondering about the driver or any first-hand experience. I have a medium-sized room that I mainly use for background music while cooking, entertaining, etc. (ie: nota HT sub). I was hoping it was better than a BB or CC sub at the same price. TIA!

    Anyone have experience with http://www.savvydecorator.com/

OK, so quite a few views and no responses so I'll asssume no one has any negative comments about them. Does anyone have any info on this particular theater set? http://www.savvydecorator.com/catalo...94/1385837.htm I don't know if I link directly to a another site but here it goes...

    "The Incredibles" lunch-time Walmart experience

In that case he would be considered a "dealer", wouldn't he? Almost all stores limit or prohibit "Dealer" purchases. If that were the case I would think he would be required to purchase through commercial channels instead of as a traditional consumer.

    "The Incredibles" lunch-time Walmart experience

I should have said he bought every remaining copy: at least two boxes. I was estimating about 50-60 copies of The Incredibles. Plus he bought two boxes of another new arrival - I think it was Ladder 49, I'm not sure. His receipt was about 2.5 feet long.

    "The Incredibles" lunch-time Walmart experience

I want to preface this by saying that I don't frequent this forum too often so I don't know if this is a common occurrence. The only search results I found similar dealt with the $5.97 bargain bin. Begin rant: The short version... A friend wanted to pick up The Incredibles at Walmart at...

Stryke AV15 + PE 500watt amp = freq plot fun! (pics included)

Nope! I missed something. I did a quick cut and paste to get a sheet I could upload. Basically that sheet contained data that was calibrated at 75db. I modified it to see what the 85 db levels would be. My mistake. Sorry for any confusion. I'll change the sheet when I get home. For now I'll...

Stryke AV15 + PE 500watt amp = freq plot fun! (pics included)

Yes! But sadly I want more :P Either one more AV15 or an IB one day. But that will have to wait for another house. I was thinking of picking up a BFD but it sounds pretty good as is. I was pretty surprised at how well the eq on the amp tamed the one bad peak I had.

Stryke AV15 + PE 500watt amp = freq plot fun! (pics included)

The sub is still raw MDF, unfortunately. Once I find some free time I'll get an actual finish applied and post some pics.

Stryke AV15 + PE 500watt amp = freq plot fun! (pics included)

Quite a while ago I purchased an AV15 MKII along with a Parts Express 500 watt plate amp (with parametric eq). It never really had a home until I "finished" the basement room - it is still not finished but there are painted walls and carpet so that is good enough for now :) Anyway, I built...

Need help on AV15 sub design

FYI, Using 8ft^3 and 4 4" ports, 12" long, I come up with a tuning of about 33.67 Hz. This may not be what you are looking for. Of course my calculations could be wrong :)

    help with sub please!!

Sometimes the obvious are overlooked - at least in my case. For instance, I forgot to tell my receiver that I had a sub, so the output was not turned on. So check that and the corresponding level for the sub on the receiver. If that doesn't solve the problem try hooking the subamp to a speaker...

    clamp and glue questions

Thanks for the advice everyone. I think my initial problem was not enough glue and clamping too tight. Hopefully it will progress more smoothly now, although I still think I may have over-tightened the side I did last night. I shall see in about 7 hours :) I don't think I thought the build...

    clamp and glue questions

    1) How tight should the clamps be when using just glue and clamps to build an enclosure? Should it be just snug enough to hold the pieces together or should it be really tight? 2) How much glue should be used? I glued one of the sides to the front and back, waited four hours and then tried...

    mounting an AV15: T Nuts?

I'm not set on anything yet but I know I'll have problems somewhere along the line and need to remove the driver. As for glueing the plywood onto the MDF, I actually saw that picture which prompted my question. Now I can't find the link either. Thanks again. Anyway, I now understand the...

    mounting an AV15: T Nuts?

Thanks for the links. Are the threaded inserts similar to screws? ie: one piece vs Tee Nuts which require two pieces (Tee Nut + Screw) Also, why do you recommend against using tee nuts? Thanks, Lance

    mounting an AV15: T Nuts?

A couple of questions: 1) Are Tee Nuts the best way to mount an AV15 to MDF? 2) My plan is to mount the driver down-firing. Any problems with that? 3) What should I use to get an air tight seal around the driver? I've found threads about weather stripping but is there a particular type...

Problem with PE 1000w plate subamp

That shoots down my AV15/PE500 amp plan. Any idea from PE if they will actually attempt to resolve the issue? Since it is not functioning as advertised I would imagine they would want it fixed ASAP. Or perhaps they are waiting on some kind soul to fix it for them... Maybe I should just buy a...

anyone ever replace speker in a television?

The magnets on speakers this small are not exactly large but should I get a shielded driver anyway? It is inside the tv, afterall. I haven't taken the orig out yet so I guess that would answer my own question :)

anyone ever replace speker in a television?

We have a small television in our bedroom with a speaker that distorts so badly it is pretty much unusable. Being relatively brave I am thinking of replacing the speaker with a cheap parts express driver. Besides possibly electrocuting myself does anyone have any advice or experience in this...

    AV-15 MkII delayed. Now what?

AV-15 Status Well the AV-15s are on a slow boat from China, literally. I presently do not have a sub but I really would like to finish my project. I'm not sure if I should buy another driver for cheap and use it until the AV15 arrives or just wait. Any opinions on a cheap driver that will...

Is 1000 watts too much for AV15?

Craig, Thanks for the input. I think I'll go with the 500 watt amp but if someone said 'You MUST buy the 1kw amp!' I probably would have since I haven't read about anyone else using it - although I could have missed the post. Take care.

Is 1000 watts too much for AV15?

I will be finishing my enclosure within the next week or so and I am still deciding on which amp to use. As this is my first DIY sub I thought the easiest thing to do would be to go sealed: 2.5 ft^3 from stryke's site, even though the extension from a ported design is really tempting to try...
