Thank you. Where can you buy just the material. That sounds like a great compromise. I have been looking but have not found a place that sells just the actual screen fabric for DIY's. Thanks again.:)
Is there anyone out there who has truely compared a DIY screen vs. a purchased screen. I can't help but wonder about how well a DIY screen measures up to a retail screen. If the differences are minimal, and I do mean really minimal, why wouldn't everyone simply build their own screen and save...
Great looking HT. I also want to build a DIY screen. How do you find yours is performing. All of the DIY screens I have read about involve black out material stretched over a frame of some kind. Did you try this method? Where did you read about the technique you used, or was it your own idea...
Thank you all. I have made up my mind. I will frame all walls in wood, use reilient channel for the ceilings, and use metal studs for the coffered ceilings.:D
Let me know if you want a total newbie to attend. Green as they come. I have a great design in mind for my basement though and would love your experienced feedback. :b Don't worry, My feelings won't be hurt if you don't reply for I know that some day I will do the HT gods proud.:)
Re Pool Table. It really depends on the size of the pool table and the length of the pool cues you will be using. Don't abandon the idea of having a pool table in your media room until you check with a manufacturer. Pradike...awesome layout and HT. What size is you pool table?:)

The plywood idea sounded funny to me too. Also, I have been reading through this forum like mad and I have not come across any comments on metal studs vs. wood studs. Metal is cheaper but if it offers poorer results I wouldn't want to go that route. There are some truely amazing HT's found...
First timer. I'm just about to start framing my basement. I'm doing an open concept HT/billiard/bar room. My local HT specialists mentioned that instead of building a REAL sub floor I could screw down 5/8 plywood directly over the concrete and this would improve the sound quality of my set...
