1. Use the YPAO microphone. It works better than doing it manually 2. The OSD only works using interlaced output 3. The zone display to be 'on' is normal
It can be from the DVD player. I used to use Panasonic RP-56 using optical out to my Pioneer 45TX receiver and I hear a lot of distortion on the center channel. Just to experiment, I changed the player to Denon 910, the wiring and other variables are excatly the same, the distortion disappears.
PQ is mutually exclusive to region. Regions are just the artifical boundaries set by the studios. I personally use Yamaha DVS-5650 for this use and I love it.
it's better that you don't know what a chroma bug is. Your life will be better not knowing this. I saw chroma bug before it was reported without knowing what that was. I wasn't the only one. Many people do too, including my wife. So it's untrue that nobody knows about chroma bug before it...
Yup! no need for KRELL or some high-end nonsense. PS: If you've witnessed the performance of Pioneer DV-59 (with HDMI and Faroudja upscaling, retails for around US$900), you won't even bat an eye on a KRELL.
It's either the laser head has weakened or the spindle motor not spinning anymore. Repairing something like this usually cost around US$100 (if it's the spindle motor) up to US$200 (if it's the laser head, depending on the make/model).
oh, PS: chroma bug is something that I can see clear as day. Of course, ignorance is bliss. (no, I'm not being sarcastic, I REALLY wish I'm oblivious to Chroma-bug)
ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!! I bought my Denon DVD-910 for exactly US$250 and it doesn't have chroma-bug. I bought my Panasonic RP-56 for around US$175 and it also doesn't have chroma-bug. You really need to check out the prices more, dude!
It's not about price. Any Sony DVD player comes with "built-in" chroma bug... regardless of price. Which DVD player should I buy? CHEAP Pioneer with no chroma-bug or EXPENSIVE Sony with chroma bug?
I can't remember which is which, but one version is told in a chronological order, the other in a flash-back fashion. However, the director's cut is far superior and much more coherent. I haven't watched the director's cut for the past 6 years just because the picture quality on the US DVD...
I'd like to know whether Sony camcorders' 16:9 mode will actually yield higher resolution when viewed on 16:9 TV. I personally don't think so because either recording in 4:3 or 16:9, the total number or horizontal lines will be exactly the same. Any input/comment?
it's the player's firmware problem. As long as the manufacturer doesn't fix the firmware, doesn't matter how many times you want to exchange the player, it will pose the same problem. PS: AIWA is low-end Sony. Did you get AIWA for sure? Because there is a Korean(?) electronics company called Aowa
I'm looking for an HTiB for my room. I don't want to do too much wiring due to aesthetic reasons. Unfortunately, the only wireless surround system I've seen so far is the Philips LX3750W I know Yamaha is coming out with a similar unit after CES. Same goes with Sony and Panasonic. However...
It's easy to import, but the shipping cost plus duties plus CanadaPost's brokerage fee will double the price of the disc from the US as opposed buying it in Canada. Especially when Canadian DVDs are relatively cheaper than the US counterpart.
Well, I actually was given the info by Future Shop as a corporation, not from one store only. This is based on their sales record vs their return/exchange record.
1. If you're not the type that keeps experimenting with speaker positions, speaker models etc, manual MCACC maybe not too difficult to do (although I refuse to spend 20 minutes calibrating when I can just press a button). 2. Even after careful calibration, frequency response created by manual...
I'm not a Yamaha fan at all, but their 10-band parametric EQ auto calibration PLUS another 10-band graphic EQ for further fine tuning will be pretty tough to match. Oh, and they really have to do something about the remote. It's fugly :D
Thanks, Sean, quite unfortunately getting info from Yamaha is like pulling teeth :frowning: Supposedly Yamaha Japan doesn't disclose much to their subsidiary anyway.
