I always thought the main reason the 1st season set of Larry Sanders didn't sell well was because it was priced way too high for a 3 disc set.
It stayed at this price point for ages too! If Sony had reduced the set earlier - or better still, given it a more realistic price point to begin with...
New transfers of 1941 and Always would be instant buys for me too. A Blu-ray release for both would be most welcome, but I'm not holding my breath on that one!
Nowt for me in that list either - I have a soft spot for the 'Wayne's World' films but I don't feel the need to upgrade from my DVD's! I agree with Jim K...'Apocalypse Now'....now Paramount! But please wake up and release the original cut in 2.35:1. EDIT: Oh yes, 'Dragonslayer' anytime you...
Hmmm, well this may be a first for us UK Blu-ray buyers but maybe...just maybe...EIV will actually come through with a better release over here! They released the un-cut, slightly more violent version on DVD here in the UK so hopefully their transfer will be from a different source and as such...
I completely agree with your first three choices, particularly Dragonslayer which is a long time favourite of mine and a much under-appreciated film I think. I was thrilled to see the Paramount DVD of this title a few years ago but, like you, wished it contained some behind the scenes...
Added expense plus lack of space in the A/V rack prevents this at the moment I'm afraid.
I'm thinking that early in the new year I may get my Panny player modded for both Region A/B playback.
It's a shame that region coding is still insisted upon by a few of the major companies, although I...
Oops...missed that bit and just noticed the 'Playback' part! Too much wishful thinking on my part there I think.
A shame for those of us who would love to import some Crit BD's.
There are definite hints of this already happening in the last Hulk movie.
I hope Marvel can make this one work, but as Jon Favreau said in a recent interview, it's Thor that may be a problem here - making him fit into the new Marvel film universe along side Iron Man, Cap America and the like...
I read a while ago that the new Beauty and the Beast: The Complete Series Box Set would have exclusive extras, but couldn't find any details of what new material was to be included. Has anyone got any more info on this please?
The Haunting ('98) has not found its way into my considerable DVD library and would not find a place in my slowly growing Blu-ray collection either, due to the fact that it's such a poor film (and I do have the 'so bad it's good' gene! But this one is just plain awful!). As others have said...
I have the Blu-ray of Batman Begins and have watched the 6 min opening of The Dark Knight numerous times via my projector on my 8 foot wide screen...and it is stunning! I say again, I personally have no problem whatsoever with the Blu-ray being presented this way, but I do know people (with...
I didn't get to see the IMAX presentation, but I can imagine it was breathtaking and fairly overwhelming on such huge screens. My point is, I doubt it will have the same effect on home viewing and the changing ratio may be a little off putting for certain folk. It would be good to have the...
Although I like the idea of viewing the film with the IMAX footage in its original ratio I'd prefer if this was done via seamless branching on the Blu-ray giving the option to watch the film's IMAX presentation or the theatrical 2.35:1 version, if only to stop the "why's the picture changing...
Great news! Particularly excited about Rodan as I've never seen it - either the US or Japanese version - and I've wanted to for a long time. War of the Gargantuas is a great bonus.
Fantastic news! The Third Man, Walkabout & Man Who Fell To Earth will be instant buys for me. I'll no doubt pick up 400 Blows & Gimme Shelter soon after release too.
So many titles in the Criterion catalogue that I'd re-buy in 1080p, but I'm really keeping my fingers crossed for Brazil.
Anyone heard anything about the Sweeney Todd HD release? I only pre-ordered it a couple of days ago and it's due out in little over a month, I hope this one makes it.
