I would hope the BluRay doesn't look like the TCM cap which is vertically squeezed, and whose color reminds me of that terrible DVD of The Opposite Sex from WAC in which everything black was midnight blue.

I'm aware of your pointing that out as well. It just seems more likely to me that people are remembering it from the mass marketed home video releases than a review from 1964. Here it is on the VHS from 1984.

This 1982 Laserdisc was time compressed and ran 108m. Perhaps this early home video master is what muddied the memory waters.

"Director approved' and "Cinematographer approved" transfer is called puff marketing and collectors eat it up and then use it to argue for decades.

My Toshiba purchased in 2006 still works just fine, but my HDDVDs were all dead within 5 years with IMAX The Dream is Alive being the sole exception.
