David Beckham: I don't get it

You're absolutely right. People who hate soccer will always hate soccer. I think it is a boring game. Too much running around with not enough excitement. Hell, you don't even know when the game actually ends. But the Beckham signing will stir interest, people will check in out of curiosity...

David Beckham: I don't get it

They can afford it,because from what I understand they really aren't paying for it. The bulk of the contract is paid by ADIDAS and AEG and has as much to do with endorsements as with his on-field play. The dollars don't seem as out of whack when compared with high dollar endorsement contracts...

Does anyone know this WWII Movie?

Over dinner tonight my 14 year old son was describing a movie he had seen. He said it was about POW's in a German prison camp who escape by making an airplane out of wood from their bunks and huts. The airplane crash lands but the escaped prisoners make it to a rendezvous at the shore...

    Wall Mounting speakers

I have the B-tech BT77's shown in the above Crutchfield link. I have the supporting a couple of Polk Audio RTI28's as surrounds and they work great (the 28's weigh 14 lbs each). Also since they are supported from the bottom..there is very little drilling into the speaker (one anchor screw, if I...

    American Idol - Season 3

It sounds lake a great idea to make the contest more fair... BUT...No results each week = No results SHOW each week = less commercial time to sell...not an idea that I think the producers will go for.

    American Idol - Season 3

I think the low number of posts since last nights show really demonstrates how many people have given up interest. Really...a final between the screaming munchkin and the Stepford Idol...I never thought I would ever miss Clay Aiken! If JPL, Red and these two represent some of the most...

The farthest you've travelled to see a band?

We should also mention the band we thought it was worth traveling to see... My trip was pretty short, only about 250 miles. Friday night in Miami...Saturday and Sunday in St.Pete. Three Grateful Dead Shows in three days (back in '87 or '88):D

Audio from DVD player or receiver

Yes you definitely want to use the digital output from the DVD (either optical or digital coax), to take advantage of the DAC's in the NAD

What does B&M mean? (AND OTHER ABBREVIATIONS)

Darn, I was pretty sure it had something to do with the beans :) Seriously...Thanks...It was driving me nuts that I couldn't figure it out.

What does B&M mean? (AND OTHER ABBREVIATIONS)

Forgive my ignorance.....I have been able to figure out almost all of the common abbreviations used here....except B&M. Obviously it refers to retail stores...but what exactly does it stand for? Thanks in advance for your patience!

    Surround speaker placement

My setup will be in a room that opens at the back to the kitchen. The right of the seating area is also open (to the living room), so mounting the speakers next to and above the seating area, like the Dolby site recommends, will be impossible. I will have to put the surrounds on the sidewalls...

Any Decent DVD changers for $200?

Are there any decent DVD/CD changers for under $200.... I definitely would want the player to play random tracks from all disks...I've read that many can't do this. It seems to me that loading additional music would be the main reason for wanting a multi disc player. The reviews I've read...

A newbie is almost ready to buy...

I'v just always heard that the Center for home theater is one place you don't want to get cheap... That said, since I ended up with Rti 38's for the front and then ordered the 40 center online..will it be a good match? As far as the sub...I figure I can save Up for another month and go...

dual 10" sub or single 12" sub? which would be better?

Brian, Is that Dayton as good as the old one that everyone raved about? My room is only 11 x 17, but is open to the kitchen and the rest of the house. Is the Hsu VTF-2 worth the extra $350 or so? Is it that much better?

A newbie is almost ready to buy...

I ended up getting a pair of demo 38's for $59 each. I'll probably grab the open box 28's for the $75. It seems that all of the CC's down here are just about out of the series. It seems weird to have to pay more for the 38's than the 28's, but I don't want to wait and not be able to find them...

A newbie is almost ready to buy...

Okay. I think I may have actually made up my mind. I've tried to listen to all the speakers that I can find in the area in my price range and I'm pretty settled on: Mains: Polk Audio RTI28's ($199/PR) Center: Polk Audio C40 ($249) Surrounds: Polk Audio RTI28's (open box $150/PR)...

    Speaker advice for a newbie

Thanks for all the help, guys. I've started the audition process. Last night I listened to the Infinity Mod's, Infinity Entra's and the Energy Encore's. I definitely preferred the Mod's (seemed like a much fuller sound to me). I'm really intrigued by the rocket ELT deal at AV123. The 5.1...

    Speaker advice for a newbie

Uh-Oh I've been reading more and just finished Bruce Judys review of the ascend/Hsu system... Ascend will package CBM-170's for front and center with HTM-200's in the rear and a Hsu VTF-2 sub; shipped for about $1200. This makes it the most expensive set-up on my list...Is it that much...

    Speaker advice for a newbie

I am a newbie and I need a lot of advice... The more I read the more confused I become. Every positive review I read I think "Okay those are the speakers I will get", then I read the next post and change my mind again. I've taken to heart that listening to the speakers is most important...
