For those of you with a Widescreen, do you watch regular TV in 16:9 or 4:3?

I watch TV programs in stretch mode on my CRT RPTV because I fear burn in. You get used to it I guess but after watching a DVD or something which is made for widescreen, it takes a few minutes to adjust to the distortion again. I use Mits' Stretch Plus mainly now and it's a compromise but the...

Help me choose a RPTV, please!

From everything I've seen/heard all these newer CRT RPTVs look pretty good with DVD and HDTV. The big difference is on SD. You'll want a Mits or Pioneer Elite if SD is important, as it is for me. I've got a 55" Mits. Good luck on your researching. I've got a built in HD receiver and use it...

Buying an RPTV, but somewhat disillusioned

Congrats on your purchase, Chuck! Wondering if you're still wanting from your display? Everything I've heard about Captain Video locally for calibrations is positive. Glad to hear you're happy. A RPTV is definitely a different experience than a smaller direct view.

    Sharp's Notevision A10X

The A10X is a nice pj for the money and works just fine at this price point with DVD. I personally just picked up a SE 1HD (Sanyo Z1 clone). The 1HD has a shorter throw and native 16:9 AR which were plusses for me.

    Svs Pb2-isd

Kinson, I think it's all about #4 in your statement. I was going to get the PB1-ISD and when the lead times started to get long, I cancelled the order to wait for the PB1+. This would have made the wife happier as the box is wood stained. But when I saw the PB2-ISD on SVS' website for...

    Marantz ? NAD ? Yamaha (??) heeeeelp!

If you're budget concious and willing to look at refurbed gear, the NAD 752 and Marantz 7300 are in the same ballpark, $600-650 US. I looked at both of these and decided to get a refurbed NAD 752. NAD can be found at Yawa Marantz at Accessories4less

can i get away with not having a sub if i have really good mains?

I find that a sub makes watching movies much more enjoyable but don't like using one for music.

    center and rears..large or small??

I prefer to set them all to small and have a subwoofer take care of the low frequencies. Let the sub do its dedicated job, as it does it better than full range speakers.

how should i feel about buying non-brand new products?

If you can see the speakers and hear them before buying and like them, I don't see a reason not to purchase them. Also, look at the warranty. Will it have manufacturer or just from the store you buy them?

Carlo, thanks for your informative review here. It's what made me buy my MB Quart QLS-830s and 330 center from Yawa. I'm not an audiophile but these sound great for the price I paid. I got a NAD receiver as well, T752. It's a great setup for my family room. I'm glad I found this thread as...

Best price for NAD T762 Receiver?

Reggie, What version is the software on your unit? I assume that would tell you right away if a new unit will solve your issue. I too just purchased a NAD receiver from Yawa this week and love it. It's a refurbed T752 with newer software. So far, so good. Alan
