"Special Features: Isolated Score Track / Audio Commentary with actor Darryl Hickman and critic Richard Schickel / Movietone News Footage / Original Theatrical Trailer"
I like the film quite a bit myself, but that doesn't change Brandon's objective statement that Oliver! is frequently derided as one of the worst films to win the Oscar for Best Picture. It simply is. That's a statement of fact. Many of us may disagree with that opinion, but it's out there and...
The Wild Bunch is already available on Blu-ray too, and Warner will be releasing White Heat on Blu via traditional retail channels in the second quarter of 2013.
I'm guessing neither. There are too many extras on the current release for Twilight Time to try to make a go of a bare-bones release, and Franklin Schaffner hasn't signed anything in 23 years.
I can't figure out why Amazon has the MSRP of the two-disc listed as $44.99 when the press release above clearly states it should be $29.99. The Best Buy exclusive version indeed seems to be the three-disc edition from the press release. Cancelled my Amazon order.
Exactly. Great actors work for scale all the time if they are interested in the material. The Ides of March cost $8 million less than Atlas Shrugged and starred George Clooney, Ryan Gosling, Paul Giamatti, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Marisa Tomei, Jeffrey Wright, and Evan Rachel Wood.
Thank you, David. Some great deals to be had. I'll be hanging on to my Criterion Straw Dogs, but for five bucks, I'll happily pick up the new Blu-ray too.
Do I understand correctly that I can bring in ANY commercially produced (non-porn) DVD and get $5.00 off any title from that website list? It doesn't have to be the same title on DVD as I'm buying on Blu-ray? And is it an additional $5.00 off the sale prices posted on the website? If so, that's...
The Blu-ray transfer is notoriously awful. It's 1080i, full of combing, and basically just a DVD upconvert. The American version is from a 30-year-old master. Criterion is doing new 1080p transfers and will surely include more thoughtful supplements.
Not counting the desperately needed Republic catalog, which would easily occupy the first five slots... 1. The Conformist 2. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence 3. Seconds 4. Sunset Boulevard 5. Chinatown 6. Nashville 7. Shane 8. To Catch a Thief 9. Don't Look Now 10...
Does Lionsgate really deserve any credit for the Apocalypse Now transfer? It was my understanding that Zoetrope handled the transfer and all of the production of the set themselves, at their own state-of-the-art post facilities, and Lionsgate just served as the hired-gun distributor. That's...
But anyone who chooses to pay $90 instead of $60 simply isn't very bright. Even if there is some reason that one cannot buy online, the set will be deeply discounted at Best Buy, Target, Costco, et. al. upon its release. This is one of those "deluxe collectors sets" packaged with a bunch of...
