    projecting thru glass?

so I finally got everything wired this weekend, and grabbed a piece of glass to place in front of the lens as a test. just a clear, thin piece of glass, part of a door on an armoir I was dismantling. Right of the bat, there is no discernable change in image quality. In fact, you can run the...

Is my center channel too high?

to elaborate on what Matt said, have a friend position the speakers while you sit in the "sweet spot" and here is my 2 cents, as silly as it sounds. Close your eyes! or better yet, blindfold yourself, and get comfortable. Play some music that taps each range of your speakers, and have your...

    projecting thru glass?

maybe plexiglass is the way to go? found some neat stuff at estreetplastics.com. they offer standard and non-glare. hard to figure if the non-glare would work for or against my purposes. its cheap enough to gamble on though.

    troubleshooting dead sub.

i used a lousy cambridge soundworks powered 10" in my first ht setup. when it died, I didn't bother looking into it, I just upgraded. now Im thinking of reviving it as a second sub in my setup. It just stopped producing sound one day, it didn't die during use, I just turned it on one day and...

    projecting thru glass?

I am reconfiguring my basement theater, and the PJ is now ceiling mounted behind a wall, projecting thru a 10x16" hole in the drywall. The water heater and furnace are in the area behind the wall, and noise coming in from that opening is going to be an issue. Would glass about 2ft from the...

Assuming you are stuck with a region 1 player, If granted only one title not currently avail. in region 1, what would you choose? I would take the Delicatessen by Jeunet and Caro. This is the title that has me shopping around for a multi region player.

    Silly Terminator 2 sounds

Another major sound effect screw up in T2 is John Connors dirt bike. Its a little 4-stroke engine, but they give it the sound of a much much larger 2-stroke motocross bike, its laughable to anyone that is even the slightest bit mechanically inclined.

What method do use to connect your X1?

Right now, Im running direct S-video from a non-prog. DVD player. I learned that the X1 takes 480i in the S-Video input, and 480p through the Vesa breakout. Someone reported in a previous thread, getting better results through the Interlace S-video component breakout cable, available through...

I pulled the trigger on the Infocus X1

I was seeing rainbows the first night I set up my X1. The more I focused on the center of the screen, the less apparent they became. Now that I've had it for a week, I no longer see rainbows unless I intentionally dart my eyes around in a manner I normally would'nt. Over the weekend I hooked up...

I pulled the trigger on the Infocus X1

Got my X1 today, I just moved into a new place so my components are packed away. But I did run it through my Laptop projected on a Da-lite 84" screen in complete darkness (basement apartment) Very impressed with performance right out of the box. Only took me 5 minutes to get the zoom and...

    6.1 Rear Center channel placement

I just upgraded my center from the weak Bose VCS 10 to a Polk CSI 40. I have a 6.1 reciever, and Im going to move the Bose out back. Note on the Bose: Its a decent sounding center channel, if you room is 6x6... It should suffice as a rear center. My problem with placement, is my couch is...

Hello all, first post. My X1 should be here Friday :D I've got a Da-Lite model B 84x84 and the X1 will sit about 12 feet back. This is my first PJ. All the positive talk about the Goo paint has me thinking, is painting a retractable screen completely out of the question? Im certian most...
