What's this talk of $40 Criterion DVDS? I've never paid $40 for any Criterion, ever. The $30 retail Criterions can be found for as low as $19, and the $40 retail Criterions can be found for as low as $27 dollars. Considering when the Image DVDs of "Corridors" and "Strangler" had a $19.99 retail...
I know Raw Meat didn't have an insert. Not sure about Species 3, but I doubt it. MGM rarely adds inserts to their DVDs, unless the disc is a special edition.
Cancelled my order w/ Empire, picked the set up this morning at Best Buy in Westbury, NY. They had 10 copies in the boxed set section when I went. They are charging $64.99, btw. Tower Records had 4-5 copies, at $68.99 each.
Damn. I know none of us probably know, but do you have any idea WHEN it might ship? Keep us updated with the status of your order. This has never happened to me before with an upcoming DVD, especially with a Warner title. Hopefully tomorrow or Tuesday they ship out. I have the whole week off...
...Did you're box ship yet? Why I am asking is, usually, Empire ships the title out the Friday before it is set to be released. However, my set did not ship out on Friday. I called up, they said they haven't recieved their stock yet, which has NEVER happened in the many orders I have placed...
What's wrong with clapping at the end of a film? Usually, if it's a large crowd, and the film is good enough, I will clap. The HT does not substitute the movies. As hard as you guys try, it will never replicate the experience. You are all missing out on some great films this year, which WON'T...
Hey, I have a friend who says DVD Empire sucks with money orders and they take forever. I sent a money order to them on Saturday and it's meant to arrive on Thursday or Friday. He says they take over two weeks to process a money order order once they get it. Can anyone tell me if this is...
I got this email from Universal: Thank you for contacting us. Unfortunately, we cannot supply you with individual DVD keepcase sleeves because none were created for The Best of Bud Abbott and Lou Costello DVD collections. However, we will be happy to exchange the digipak and/or...
My favorite film of 2003, it made me cry when I saw it in the theatres in January. This and Kill Bill should have been nominated for Best Picture. Just got the DVD, and I'm very happy. I hope you all give this film a chance.
It may be well known by now that Freaks (1932) is my all-time favorite film, and the joy that I am feeling right now that this has been officially announced (with extras, no less!) is indescribable. Hopefully, there is restored footage (the film was originally 90-minutes long) and at the very...
Hopefully Ms. 45 gets re-issued. It's OOP, right? Well, DVDAF says it's OOP. I've only seen Bad Lieutenant, which is so sick and depraved that I HAVE to see all of Ferrera's films now. I own Bad Lieutenant, and I plan on buying King of New York 2-Disc SE, Driller Killer 2-Disc SE, and Ms...
I bought it at the Chiller Theatre Convention when it first came out. It also includes the original Nosferatu, with the original title cards that called him "Dracula". I'm not sure if we could link to other retailers, if not, please let me know...
Thanks, Herb. I enjoyed the review, and like most reviews I read (even if i'm not particularly interested in the subject matter!), it makes me want to see the film. I'll rent this first. Thanks again.
Gary: I'm going to eventually track down that Colgate Comedy Hour VHS tape, once I free up some cash. I wonder if Warner ever plans on releasing The Noose Hangs High, Lost in a Harem, and A&C Meet Captain Kidd. Pete: I used Mapquest to determine how long it will take me to drive to...
Not at all, Gary. A good post, and a good read. :) Do you know if any of the A&C TV Show DVD's carry Abbott and Costello Meet The Creature From The Black Lagoon? That's a huge want of mine. Obviously, everyone has different opinions on these films. Everyone has their favorite routines...
Question about John Wayne war films (Sands of Iwo Jima, Back to Bataan, The Flying Leathernecks): I like John Wayne. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance is one of my favorite movies. Ever. I really like John Wayne Westerns. However, I'm not a huge fan of war films, and I can only name around...
I watched some of this last night, and the film really doesn't need subtitles. Other than the music and the sound effects, there is barely ANY dialouge, and when there is, it isn't particularly important to the progression of the film. Weird film, by the way. Imagine a cartoon directed by David...
Damn. I dunno why, but I'm obsessed with particular things in films: Snow, Trains, Diner's, Western Towns, Mexican Cities (i.e. Tampico in Treasure of the Sierra Madre), the way blacks and asians were portrayed in films of the 30's and 40's, etc. *shrugs* I dunno why, but that's the way it is. :D
