Just noticed the current DVD version has gone Out-Of-Print. Does that mean a new and better version is coming?

Those of us who already own the Oppo 983 won´t win a whole lot by getting the BD-83 (when available). We might as well buy a Panasonic or Pioneer instead. However, this is the ONLY reason Not to buy the BD-83, though.

Question: How about making the Oppo BDP-83 Multiregion? There has to be a way around this...

As for Pirates 2; I´d go for either the R2UK or the R2JAP. Both of them carries a DTS track, and I really think this movie calls for watching it in DTS. That is if you have DTS on your receiver.

Interesting comparison as I find the EDKO release better than the Tartan release. Both image and sound wise. Sophie Scholl (R1 Zeitgeist) has a terrible image. Has nice set of extras, though.

You´re right. I got it mixed up with another movie. Perhaps, I made my own personal "bathroom" intermission. :) I have no problrm with a movie split over 2 discs ...if it means it will keep a higher bit rate.

This is a hilarious discussion. If any of you saw The Green Mile or Wyatt Earp in the theatre you might remember there was an "intemission". As mentioned, even Lord of the Rings EE DVD Trilogy has to be swithed to a second disc. So goes for Lawrence of Arabia, Gangs of New York &...

Honestly, you must be the only person on the planet that has that opinion. DTS beats Dolby Digital 90% of the times. It´s just a common fact. But hey, if you´re satsified with Dolby Digital fine with me.
