I have a question about the new 3 disc set. Is it packaged like the previous set, 3 discs in 3 keep cases inside an outer box? I have the new 3 disc set ordered but haven't received it yet.
Rich, I would also be love to get one of your extra copies of Boomerang. Unfortunately there aren't any Borders stores around here, so I wasn't able to find a copy. I was really looking forward to this release, I hope it's just a delay.
Columbia House for the majority...Can't believe I'm the first one to mention Columbia House. For stuff Columbia House doesn't carry it's really whoever is cheapest. I buy online mostly. Usually Amazon or Deep Discount DVD. I'll hit either Best Buy or Walmart for certain sale prices.
The Denon DVD-910's layer change probably won't be any better than your old Toshiba. It wasn't any better than my old Toshiba SD-1200. The Denon DVD-2200's layer change is seamless just like the 2900. Both the 2200 and 2900 have 8MB buffers giving invisible layer changes. The video section...
More and better test patterns, much better organization, better explainations. The menu navigation of DVE will give you a headache. I think Avia is more usefull overall. I bought DVE for $13 and hoped that would be enough but I found it lacked several test patterns I wanted to use. For the...
EDIT: I did some more reading and adjusting last night and decided I didn't know enough about what I was talking about. List to Gregg, he's the pro, not me :D. I tightened the focus of blue last night and I think that is probably the best solution. There are blue outlines, but they are...
Picture quality wise, it's a step up from the Denon 910 and 1200. $305 is more than a new one cost when they were in production, but with the alternatives now I don't think it's bad.
I didn't bother trying the Pioneer but I've had the Denon 2200 a little over a week and it is great so far. I chose the Denon more for picture quality and deinterlacing ability. It's hooked up to a Hitachi 51S700 RPTV and a Harman Kardon AVR 325.
Nope, it doesn't even have the basic resume feature. Well, I've never touched a 2900 but my 2200 doesn't have resume. I've seen many other 2900 owners confirm it also lacks resume.
I like this feature but I'm learning to live without it. My old Toshiba SD-1200 had it, then I bought a Denon 910 that also has the resume function. I didn't like the Denon 910 for other reasons so I doubled my budget for a Denon 2200 which doesn't have resume. The $1000 Denon 2900 doesn't even...
The Denon 2200 should have the best picture quality. If you are concerned about pic quality than stay away from the Pioneer dv45. There are reviews of all of them on the Secrets of Home Theater shootout. http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/cgi-bin/shootout.cgi
The cheaper players I tried always looked worse in progressive than interlaced mode. That is because the deinterlacer in the TV is doing a better job than the one in the DVD player. I had a Denon 910 and noticed and improvement in progressive mode. That is because the Faroudja DCDi is better...
I'm thinking of returning my 910. It will not pass blacker-than-black no matter what I do. It doesn't matter what display it's hooked up to, or whether it's in interlaced or progressive mode. The progressive picture is good and definitely better than two Toshibas I have. The Toshibas pass...
I wouldn't worry about the fan in the S700. I just had a 51S700 delivered today and I was concerned about the fan. I can't hear anything even with no sound. If I get on my knees and put my head behind the TV near the floor I think I hear something that may be a fan. It's almost silent in mine...
I ordered my Denon 910 from Crutchfield. I wanted to get it somewhere with a good return policy. I can't find it locally. I used a $20 off coupon for using a mastercard. Search google for the $20 off coupon, I think it's good till the end of the month. I've used the 910 for a week on a 27" TV...
I just got a Denon 910 this past week. I'll be using it heavily the next 30 days before I decide if I want to keep it. So far I can only comment on the interlaced picture. I take delivery of a Hitachi 51S700 on Saturday 12/27. Interlaced picture on a 27" Toshiba is better than my old Toshiba...
I have been looking for RPTV for awhile now and had my choices narrowed down to Toshiba and a Hitachi. The Toshiba's biggest advantage was the price but that would not sway me. I have read way too many complaints about broken Toshibas. It is hard to find complaints about this year's Hitachi S500...
I'm having problems with Friends Season 5 right now. I ordered it from amazon and disc 4 was loose with a big scratch on it. I got them to send me a replacement and I got it yesterday. Disc 4 of the replacement was also loose with a big scratch. I called them back and now all they will let me do...
You may want to wait a bit before joining Columbia House. For the past month the majority of people at the DVDTalk DVD Clubs forum have joined and had the application disapear, myself included. I don't know what is going on there but I had been getting my accounts approved in 1 or 2 days...
I really don't like silver look of these. Other than the silver they look almost identical to this years models with slightly different buttons. I like the look of my AVR325 alot better than the 330 and I'm glad I didn't wait on the new models. There aren't even any new features or upgrades on...
If you like the track The Nurse Who Loved Me and haven't heard the original version of that song (it is a cover song). Then check out the band Failure who originally did The Nurse Who Loved Me. That song is off their Fantastic Planet album. It is a great and often overlooked album.
I was a little concerned with H/K reliability when I was shopping for a reciever. I liked everything about the H/K's but was a little leary of them. When I found a new AVR 325 on sale at onecall for $386 I made up my mind and ordered one. It arrived in perfect condition, I got it hooked up...
I converted both my parents, my sister, and my girlfriend. All of them will only watch or buy widescreen DVDs. It was was an easy task for all of them. Now my girlfriend's family...That's another story. They prefer fullscreen and I've explained the difference and I think they still don't...
I got a pair of new Wharfedale Diamond 7.2 speakers off ebay for about $70 shipped. They work great as rear speakers. They sound as good as many speakers with much higher price tags. I got them because I figured they would blend well with my Wharfedale Sapphires in the front and the price was...
