I bought the set knowing about the problem, I figured that if there was a recall, I'd be a part of it, instead of waiting for them to turn up in stores. After hering the audio, I'd love for there to be a recall of this set. This should be a reference set for TGG, and not a bad facsimile. I love...
I just got this release today. I really enjoy seeing the episodes in their original network continuity. IMHO, the "Friends are There" theme is better than the "Let's Get Ready to Party" theme. Ben
A couple of quick notes....... -For those of you who have never heard the original mono, you are not missing anything. -WB added a new logo that appears BEFORE the old logo from the movie comes on. WB seems dead and determined for everyone to see their new logo. No part of the original...
DTS is great, but let us not forget how bad Sony has been (at least in R1) with release quality and MAR (DTS P&S edition of Annie anyone?) Warner has done a far better job with quality relases. Ben
To return to the original intent of the first post... Can anyone discern a difference between the Dolby and DTS 5.1 tracks on Airport in the Terminal Pack? This DVD was an odd duck as far as classic movies go in audio treatment. Ben
In my area, Cox cable is going to roll out HD service in June. I subscribe to digital cable and I have an SPDIF output on my digital box, what are the chances of Dolby Digital 5.1 being available for those of us without HD and just regular digital cable? Ben
This set is going to be great!! I will truly be on cloud nine when Garfield and Friends are released in season sets. Hopefully our good friend Mr. Straddon will help us out with that one!! Ben
Great job on the Bitsys, Bill! I'm glad that you mentioned the "dumbing down" of DVD, and I sincerely hope that the studios get a good eyeful of what you guys mentioned on the subject. Ben
As an owner of the GoodTimes widescreen version of Airport, I can confirm that the transfer of Airport on this "Quadrilogy":D set is the exact same as the GoodTimes disc. It's a very nice transfer, and I'm glad they recycled it from the old disc. The DTS track is not very aggressive from what I...
The Time Machine-1960 Warner Bros. did a wonderful job on this disc, with a gorgeous anamorphic transfer and DD 5.1. Also included is a great documentary called "The Time Machine- The Journey Back" which was released back around 1990 for it's own VHS release, separate from the movie. This...
I didn't mean to insult anyone, but I am frustrated at the the way Columbia has been handling titles lately in regards to OAR. Although I'm upset about other movies getting a bad treatment, all in all I'm glad this movie gets OAR. I just wish that all movies could receive this treatment. Ben
A brand new DTS version of Annie gets pan and scan only, and other fine movies have their widescreen sides removed, yet a new SE of Booty Call gets 16x9. Columbia needs to get their mind right. Ben
I'm looking for a 32in 4:3 set that can: -Display 480i, 480p, 720p and 1080i -Has (at least) two component video inputs -Vertical squeeze for under $1000 Does anyone know of a set that they can recommend? Also, are there 4:3 sets that perform line doubling? Thanks, Ben
I believe that it's shameful to remove the OAR side off of any title. This is huge step backwards in a world where widescreen displays are becoming more prevalent. Ben
