I watched this tonight as it arrived from Amazon today. I have to say I was quite pleased with the transfer and overall presentation. Unlike most Blue Underground Blu-rays, it was on a BD25 rather than a BD50. Despite that, there was no difference in quality and the bitrate (an AVC encode)...
Blu-ray.com reviewed the set and their reviewer was not impressed with the visual quality of the set save Nemesis. I have not seen the discs myself but I think I will hold off. For whatever reason, Generations has always had a lousy transfer. Perhaps I'm making an unfounded conclusion, but the...
I purchased season 1 and 2 on blu-ray on Amazon and got 30 off. I wonder if that's because I've purchased season 3 a long time ago on there. Almost got hoodwinked as my original order (made eons ago) did not have the discount. I was going to pay $98 before I replaced the order!
Interesting. The disc has been "de-listed" from Amazon for the time being while they "investigate" the product. It reads as follows: "Item Under Review While this item is available from other marketplace sellers on this page, it is not currently offered by Amazon.com because customers have...
It's annoying they didn't put these out in steel books. Despite the fact they make no difference to their ability to be kept on a shelf, I prefer some uniformity. Sigh.
Pretty much. Amazon is more lenient than most outfits, though. The whole opened thing has bitten me several times at Best Buy which is why I was whiney about it earlier in the thread. I generally rely on multiple reviews before I buy something but I had preordered this movie.
:rolleyes And some people can't accept criticism no matter what. It's not just one opinion, but several. My comments to Amazon were not for dramatic effect, because simply returning it and saying "I don't want it" would not have made any impression. Why would I want to spend 20 dollars on...
I got this today from Amazon but have not opened it due to the DNR comments I've read. Has anyone here watched their disc? I've already prepped the thing from return - I hate DNRed stuff that much!
I figured as much. Given how much I loathe the compression, clipping and other maximization placed on popular music CDs, I find the low volume mastering of Blu-Ray HD tracks pleasant. Unfortunately, I occasionally forget how loud I turned the receiver up when I switch back to cable TV. Yikes...
On my first gen PS3, pressing the angle button on the Bluetooth remote gets the picture switch for only a second or two and then it switches back. Can't get it to stay there.
Unfortunately I do not know enough about SMPTE to form any kind of intelligent reply. The framing is still dubious in my opinion, but that is nothing more than what 'looks' logical to me in terms of framing. Thank you for the heads up, though. Interesting nonetheless.
Vincent, I agree about the audio. Since Blue Underground's inception, their MO appears as if no original audio will ever be included. Most of the time you get, as you said, multiple mixes in DTS and Dolby for no obvious reason. There is plenty of room for a simple mono mix, even in Dolby...
I was surprised when I put this disc in because I thought the picture was really soft, especially after watching Stendhal Syndrome. Glad to know it's the way it was shot and not the disc. Blue Underground, despite their initial reluctance for hi-def discs, has made a fantastic start. I've bought...
