How does it handle changes in audio encoding? (E.g. when watching a hi-def program in dolby 5.1, then switching to a commercial in stereo, and then back) My old HK has very annoying 2-3 second gaps of silence while it tries to cope with the format change.
I need to replace my HK AVR 7200 (100w/channel 7.1). I have a 7.1 Axiom speaker setup (VP 150 center, 6 ohm max 400w; M60 Ti fronts, 8 ohm, max 250w; four QS 8's, 6 ohm, max 400w, and 2 SVS subwoofers with a Samson amp) I'd like it to have at least 2 hdmi in for blu-ray and fios, and 1 hdmi out...
I'd like to get something with at least 2 hdmi inputs for fios & blu-ray, and 1 out, 7.1 channels, at least 100w per, driving 7 Axiom speakers. Also, I'd like to make sure it does not have a very annoying behavior that the AVR 7200 has. Every time the audio encoding changes, there is a 2-3...
Thanks very much for your advise. Your method for calibrating the rear speakers should work for me. (The other thing I thought of doing was temporarily connecting the rear surround speakers to the side surround outputs of the amp, running the Avia side surround tracks, noting the trim level...
I just got my speakers, and I want to calibrate them with my Ovation Avia disk. I have two questions. First, how do I calibrate the rear surround channels (it's a 7.1 setup). The Avia disk only has calibration tracks for 5 speakers. Second, I've downloaded the correction table for the...
I've been seriously considering a Denon 3803. One thing that made me hesitate, though, is their warranty policy. So I did some poking around and saw that the Sony 7ES can be found online for pretty much the price of the 3803 from an "authorized" dealer. How do these two receivers compare...
When you play a dvd-a/sacd source with a system set up for 7.1, do the rear channels go to the side surround speakers, or the rear surround speakers, or both?
I think it will be good. One thing I'm not certain about, though, is whether to get QS8's for both the side surrounds and the rear surrounds, or whether to use some directional speakers (like the M3's), probably for the rear. If anyone has set up a 7.1 system, especially Axioms, I'd like to...
I'm setting up a 7.1 system, and have pretty much settled on Axioms. (Except for the sub--SVS. The only question there is the size :D ) But I could use some advice about the side/rear speakers.
The room is 31' x 15'. I anticipate a mix of 70% HT, 30% music.
For the front, I'm thinking...
I'd appreciate some help choosing speakers for my home theater. It's going in our "great room", dimensions about 14' wide x 31' long (about 430 sf) with a 7'2" ceiling (about 3100 cu ft volume). The viewing area occupies the first 21' of the room (family room area), with a kitchen/eating area...
