Well I've had pretty much no issue with the PS3. Plus it's not doing something that another BD player is, with the sole exception of Dolby Plus & DTS-HD, and that is rumored to be part of the DTS-MA upgrade.
^^^ Framing slightly different. 2 different transfers? Or the capture method? Also note the Blu-ray version uses the same transfer/encode as the HD DVD and is not region coded either.
On May 11, 1984, eight teenagers burned to death in the Haunted Castle at Six Flags Great Adventure attraction in Jackson Township, New Jersey. The attraction was made of 17 connected trailers, and had been installed six years earlier to be a temporary attraction. Because the Haunted Castle was...
The interrupted office workers sex? The f-bombs? The other terrorist shootings? No, "Die Hard" would still be an 'R'. "Die Hard 2" borders on 'NC-17'! "With a Vengeance" is an 'R' for most of the same reasons as the first, minus the sex and add Sam Jackson's constant f-bombs.
Oh? So it's OK to fling the "hack" charge at Bill Hunt but not this guy who clearly parrots his employer's talking points? Mind you little has changed in those past 2 1/2 years except some of those target/launch dates.
You mean the spin afterwards. It wouldn't be the first time Doherty has flip-flopped on his position: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/programme...ne/4216291.stm Representing Blu-ray for Panasonic! Shows he'll speak for whomever pays the check.
David Letterman's Top 10 last night... picture of folks stuck hanging upside down on a roller coaster loop because the power went out: Top 10 Things Going Through These People's Minds: #2 was "This is still better than the Sopranos finale. (I think #1 was "Worst. Al-Queda Plot. Ever.") :D
Really? I have to rewatch it yet again, I could have sworn the Fed said "a pay phone in New Jersey". Besides, I used to live on Long Island (Islip)! We didn't have those types of speed bumps there! :D
Yeah. A volume knob. :frowning: Seriously, when the soundtrack is DTS it will read "NOT AVAILABLE" when selected. A serious shortcoming at times. Even the best of receivers. If DTS hadn't been in such a hurry to compete with Dolby on the home front maybe they would have added it. I blame...
I think Nemesis failed because the so-called fans made up their minds not to see it before it came out. I don't think it was that bad. My GF at the time said it was her favorite (!), she preferred the films for the characters...and ended up really liking Insurrection for that reason (we watched...
Well well well. New firmware update for the Sony BDP-S1 will add Dolby Digital Plus and... ...wait for it... Dolby TrueHD. Pioneer's new BD player will support TrueHD and include a new version of Superman Returns (& Ghost Rider Extended Cut)! If they can't even update the PS3 yet...
I have few Universal DVDs that no longer play due to disc rot (Apollo 13, Dragonheart, Dante's Peak). HD DVD is just as susceptible to issues, scratch damage (ask anyone with Netflix)...and I haven't heard anyone boiling their BDs to play. Both formats will experience these kinds of problems...
But I thought all HD DVD owners had ethernet wired directly to their living rooms! :P (Just commenting on the format war argument some supporters make that ethernet is "mandatory")
Shawn: ^^^ What he said. Plus I like being able to use things like "night mode". Not everyone can watch their movies full-bore at any time of day/night. Right now I have to fumble with the volume control whenever I'm watching any Fox BD title late at night. I'm not the only one in this...
Lionsgate recently indicated that they will have at least 20 more titles by year's end. Who wants to bet T2: SE will be one of them (along with Rambo II and III hopefully). Can you say AVC and PCM 7.1?
Hopefully if they do it the VFX won't be as bad as what they did for the Donner cut. They were just awful. "Superman I" had better VFX using 1978 tech.
