Well I've had pretty much no issue with the PS3. Plus it's not doing something that another BD player is, with the sole exception of Dolby Plus & DTS-HD, and that is rumored to be part of the DTS-MA upgrade.

Well well well. New firmware update for the Sony BDP-S1 will add Dolby Digital Plus and... ...wait for it... Dolby TrueHD. Pioneer's new BD player will support TrueHD and include a new version of Superman Returns (& Ghost Rider Extended Cut)! If they can't even update the PS3 yet...

I have few Universal DVDs that no longer play due to disc rot (Apollo 13, Dragonheart, Dante's Peak). HD DVD is just as susceptible to issues, scratch damage (ask anyone with Netflix)...and I haven't heard anyone boiling their BDs to play. Both formats will experience these kinds of problems...

But I thought all HD DVD owners had ethernet wired directly to their living rooms! :P (Just commenting on the format war argument some supporters make that ethernet is "mandatory")

Lionsgate recently indicated that they will have at least 20 more titles by year's end. Who wants to bet T2: SE will be one of them (along with Rambo II and III hopefully). Can you say AVC and PCM 7.1?

Hopefully if they do it the VFX won't be as bad as what they did for the Donner cut. They were just awful. "Superman I" had better VFX using 1978 tech.
