I just tested my Onkyo and I managed to get sound from my sub during Mode 3, but it sounded just as abrupt and choppy as it did in Mode 1 during the AOTC opening scene. During the THX test, I get a muted, very soft rumble from the sub in Mode 3. I take it that I'm in the minority here since I'm...
i've just checked all connections and my wires and everything are clean and undamaged. i tried looking at dvd menus for over an hour with 5 channel stereo and the static didnt come. so is it safe to assume that this is strictly just a pl2 problem?
onkyo had the hts650 for $330 a few months ago factory reconditioned. i got one and it works like new. just wait a few weeks and they might get them back in stock. hope this helps.
I haven't checked the lights, but I will next time it occurs. If the proper signal isn't there, is there I way I can make sure it always is? And would this mean my receiver or speakers are defective? The sound emmited is the dvd sound (which becomes muted and warped sounding) overlapped with...
I cant tell the difference, but am using digital just because it requires less cables. PS: I think DVD-Audio can only be used with an analog connection.
Sometimes (it's totally random) I get static-like distortion on either one of my rear Onkyo hts650 speakers. This only seems to happen with DVDS. The wires leading to them are only 30 feet long and encased in Wiremold and I'm using an optical cable to connect my DVD player to my receiever. I...
Hmm...thanks Max I have a better understanding now. Do you know how to set it so Winamp will get the CD audio digitally? No matter what I do I still can't seem to get dedicated digital output through the Audigy surround mixer. PS: I'm using a Dell that's about a year old. I disconnected all...
Right now I'm using the digital cd cable that came with the card to hook the card up to my DVD drive. However, in creative mixer, when I mute CD Audio and enable Digital CD audio, I get no sound. I get sound when I use CD Audio, but I assume it's analog. I'm pretty sure all the software is...
If you want to use the digital connection, use a coaxial audio cable and one of those previously mentioned adapters. Plug the coax into the white RCA, leave the red one empty, and hook the cable up to the respective devices. You should be all set. I've also heard of people using a mono stereo...
Chris, now that I listen I think mine also quiets down after a few minutes. Weird. Thanks for the diagnosis Greg, and yes, no tv or AV cables are plugged in and the tv is off. Too bad that taking it to a repair center might cost as much as the tv itself. Sigh.
My sony wega makes a very faint buzzing sound whenever it's plugged into an electrical outlet- i've tried unplugging everything that's plugged into it and the buzz still remains, even if the tv is turned off. i tried plugging it into a surge protector with a 40db noise filter and the buzz is...
I'm using a radio shack digital coax audio cable that's 12 feet long, but my sub is only 2 feet away from my sub. i want to pick up a 3 foot cable, but would i be getting better performance from a digital coax or standard audio cable?
ebay would be your cheapest choice. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=14926 i just got a set of these, the seller is very reliable and the filters work great.
I just picked one up this weekend from Best Buy for $98 (pricematched w/ Fry's plus a preferred customer coupon). I'm more than happy with it; the sound quality is comparable to that of the M-Audio Revolution but without all the clicks and pops (I returned the Revolution three days after getting...
So you're using one of these? http://www.radioshack.com/product.as...5Fid=274%2D883 That's what I'm using, with my coax cable plugged into the white outlet, and it works fine most of the time. I'm still trying to figure out why I get clicks from this setup however.
whenever windows makes any sort of sound, be it from an mp3 or a simple warning beep, two seconds later my speakers make a faint clicking/popping sound. how are you connecting your coax cable to your audigy?
I'm currently using an Audigy 2 and connecting it to my Onkyo receiever with a Y-Adapter. Now, would it be better if I connect the Audigy to the receiver's analog input or to its digital input (with a single coax cable)? I mainly use my PC for mp3 listening, barely any gaming or movie watching...
Right now I'm using a Logitech Cordless Freedom Optical wireless keyboard and mouse, but is there any way I can program the keyboard receiver to recognize inputs from a regular tv/universal remote? The wireless keyboard is just too bulky to make a good remote :)
thanks,
Mark
Hey Bob, thanks a bunch for the help! I disconnected my cable from my TV and the hum went away, so I guess I'll be needing one of those DC isolation blocks you mentioned.
Is this what I'm looking for?

I'm trying to hook my Sony Wega up to my Onkyo hts650 receiver. However, whenever I do, I get a terrible humming sound coming from all of my speakers and the sub (but I do get sound). I hooked up a pair of RCA audio cables to the audio out in my tv, hooked the other end into the video 2 audio...
right now it's between this one:

I can get the Audigy 2 for about $120. I have no idea how much the M-Audio one is, but I think I read somewhere that it's $99 (I'm...
i have the same system and am trying to do the same thing, however when i hook up the audio cables from my tv's output into the receivers input, all i get is a hum and barely audible sound. any suggestions?
