If your compass cannot go big enough, put a nail in at the center of the circle, tie or glue a string to it, put a pencil at the radius point, and tie the other end of the string to the pencil. Trace circle.
Have you listened to it? How does it sound? You can follow all the science you want, but in the end, if you think it sounds good, who cares what the literature says? That said, 5 feet off the ground sounds just fine for surrounds.
My understanding is, you're not going to have a resonance or standing wave problem when you're dealing with wavelengths measured in feet within a box measured in inches.
I have a Shiva in a ~16x16x19 sealed box in my dorm with the adire 250W amp, and I could rattle the whole floor if I wanted to (but I'm not that mean). As far as front or down firing, I think it's more a personal preference than anything. I chose downfiring because I wanted it to look like an...
Hey Chris.. how are your woodworking skills? This seems like a pretty ambitious project if you're just getting into things. Not trying to discourage an imaginative mind, but just putting together and finishing a normal box sub can be quite the undertaking for those of us without a dedicated...
I've liked my Axiom's more and more everyday since I bought them about 9 months ago. Truly a superb speaker, and one of the best sounding I've ever heard in my life. It seems you just can't go wrong with Axiom..
This thread seems to have turned mostly into bickering about the changes :) but I just watched my copy for the first time.. And let me say, this is a must own for everybody! Get ready to give your subwoofer a workout.. I think I found about 3 new rattles that I haven't seen in any other...

Why do you need the recliners both so offset like that? From personal experience, being that offset from the surrounds kills the surround effect. So, you may be better off placing the right speaker closer to the recliners, even though that's hardly optimal. Maybe a rear center channel could...
I'm noticing a very slight static-type noise in my front speakers at a very short frequency range. It appears to be near the upper end of male dialogue. This is a VERY slight thing and I only notice it every once in awhile. However, I've noticed it enough over the past 6 months that I don't...
I'd either go with A/C fans, or you can get either a power interver or computer power supply and plug it into and aux outlet on your receiver if you have one.
