Are power line conditioners worth the $$$?

I really wasn't sure where to post this, in the tweaks & accessories section, amps & receivers, or here. Anyway I will soon be setting up a Pio. 503CMX plasma display, with Dish 6000 sat. receiver, S-VHS player/tuner, Anthem AVM 20 pre-amp, and Sherbourn 7 channel amplifier, and a yet to be...

Awesome customer service from Cat Cables!!

Chu, I got a little bit of everything. I will be receiving a new plasma screen and new stereo system any day so I figured I shouldn't scrimp on cables. I ordered a component RCA to BNC cable, a couple s-video cables, 7 balanced XLR connectors, a subwoofer cable, and 2 audio cables. I'm...

Awesome customer service from Cat Cables!!

Bruce, I am not surprised to hear that others have had similar experiences! If the cables are half as good as the service, then I too will be a loyal customer. Scott

    the cable question

Bob, Thanks for the info. As I said, I have only seen the low-end AR stuff so I stand corrected. That's why I am here, to learn AMAP!:) I just ass-u-me-d that's what the original post was referring to since he mentioned that the AR cables were much cheaper than Monster Cables at Best Buy. Scott

Awesome customer service from Cat Cables!!

The other day at 4:30 P.M. Central time I called Cat Cables directly to see if they would give me a discount on a large order (@$1000; large to me anyway). To my surprise the owner Doug answered. He said to e-mail him what I needed and he would give me a quote. BTW another self-named "better"...

    the cable question

My experience with AR cables has not been good. Granted I have just tried the ones you can buy just about anywhere, but the ones I have tried all had an inferior picture to just ordinary cheap stock cables. I think you'll definitely see an improvement with higher quality cables. Scott

    Help newbie: Best Plasma screen

Jim, If you go back and look at the posts chronologically you will see that Rich H commented that "Pioneer charges extra for the Elite model, but you'll get the same performance from the cheaper model (same glass/electronics are used - despite what a salesman might try and tell you in order to...

    Help newbie: Best Plasma screen

Jim, We are not comparing the Elite with the standard line Pioneer(5030HD).We are talking about the commercial version Pioneer 503CMX. You are correct in that the 5030HD is different. While it does have the same exact glass as the Elite/503CMX, it does have the external tuner but lacks the...

    Help newbie: Best Plasma screen

I do agree the consensus is that the Panasonic has a better internal scaler and black levels. However, I am hoping that the soon to be released video cards for the Pioneer will allow for an improvement in scaling. Scott

    Help newbie: Best Plasma screen

No offense intended to anyone here. Seriously:). IMHO I don't think you can look to any one review and declare their pick the winner. I think you need to read all the reviews you can find, read the forums such as this, as well as the other one mentioned earlier in this thread, and narrow it down...

    Paradigm price fixing

I just bought the Paradigm Studio 100's, CDP, ADP's, and servo-15 subwoofer and my dealer quoted me $4190 right from the start. That's $610 off retail. Granted it's not a huge discount. But considering this dealer is one of those high end service-and-installation dealers I was surprised they...

    Help newbie: Best Plasma screen

Rich H is absolutely correct. There is no difference in picture quality between the Pioneer 503CMX and the Elite Pro-1000. They are the same display except for the frame and a few connections. Since you can buy the 503 from several reputable online dealers (including Dell computer) for between...
