Hi Randy, I'm sorry to dig up an old thread, but I was never able to respond to the email you sent me, as it kept bouncing back to me as undeliverable. Do you have another email address I can contact you at? Thanks, Chris Brunhaver Adire Audio
Hi David, You are correct, in that the Maelstrom doesn't need a whole lot of power down low in order to reach its limits in a low Q sealed enclosure. However, I think you’re getting a bit tripped up by lspCAD’s “watts into 8 ohms” field. Because the Maelstrom is a 4 ohm driver (with the VC’s...
Hi Jushua, Feel free to give us a call or email if you have any questions about Tumult enclosure recommendations or sub building in general. We can also help with the amplifier side of things as well. Thanks, Chris Brunhaver Adire Audio (425) 778-9663 [email protected]
Hi Alan, Your order shipped out today (9/8). We typically build up Ravas as they are ordered, so typically there is a few day wait. With the short week last week and a couple people gone, it took a bit longer. However, you are not charged until your order ships. In the future, it would be...
I think you can disregard the majority of that review in Audio Express. One of the tweeters was wired out of phase during all of the subjective tests and Joe D'Appolito noted the difference in frequency response (which any two bit speaker designer would know was a tweeter polarity issue) and did...
Well, I think DIY subs are a no brainer because of the great price performance ratio. It becomes more of a slippery slope when adding in plate amps though. The HS500 is cool, but for doing 4 subs, IMO, a waste of money versus doing a prosound amp + BFD or other x-over/EQ. For that about of money...
Well, I heard recently that Gefco (the build house for the madisound drivers and PRs) went under. I doubt that they will be around long as a result. Parts Express is coming out with their own PRs soon, though they will be more expensive. THe 15" is going to be in the $50+ range. I am more...
Speakerlab.com used to make a K-horn knock off using the smae drivers as klipsch and later, their own drivers. They still sell the plans for $25. Be warned, there are a lot of angled cuts to be made to make a folded bass horn. Anyway, I'm sure you could find some drivers to use. -Chris
Well, in that small of a sealed box, there aren't a lot of woofer that will get that low without the help of EQ. THe couple woofers that come to mind are the Lambda SB10 and the ACI SV10 (now sold by meniscus). The cost here is efficiency as both of these are in the low 80's. Lambda has changed...
Well, believe what you want, but they do not have 44.5 mm of one way Xmax. They do have 3.5" of p-p suspension travel though. Ask John J. or call up TC sounds and they'll let you know. Edit: Sorry Geoff, this sounds a little combative when it really shouldn't have been. Anyway, happy...
Well, that is the Xmech (maximum suspension travel) not the linear Xmax. This is a car audio misleading specsmanship thing, unfortunately. The eclipse titaniums are made by TC Sounds and are very good subs but have a Xmax in the low 20 mm area, IIRC. The HE15 sold by stryke audio is nearly...
I'm looking at buying either an AV12 or AV15 and still weighing my options. I have an Adire PR15X (the one that was on sale) and one of their 250 watt plate amps. I was looking at doing the 3 cubic foot box tuned to 19 hz with this combo. Though it won't take full advantage of the AV12's...
