RP82, XP30, or XP50 would fit your situation perfectly. Don't waste your money on the Denon if you don't need the Burr Brown DACS which have been said to not sound any better then the RP82/XP50's. If you don't need DVD-A I would highly recommend the XP30 since it is same video internals as RP82.

Colin, The Denon DVD-1600 only has an optical output. BTW I notice no sonic difference between optical and coaxial on my Panasonic RP82.

The problem is a lot more noticable on the component output then the S-Video output.

I saw the flashes during disc loading on the main Panasonic title screen, during playback on darker scenes, when playing a mp3 cd it was really bad on the Panasonic title screen, and when changing discs etc.

Just watchout for the rolling horizontal band flashes on the CP72. Also get some magnifying glasses to see it's LCD display. :-) Other then those issues it is an excellent player and deal.

The RP82 also has "Remaster Mode" and a bigger and easier to read LCD Display then the CP72.
