Let me just say all the dealer's i've ever dealt with were very nice, but the stores prices were definitely not. In the metro detroit area, you'll be hard pressed to find audio components for more than around 7% under MSRP (if anybody knows otherwise i'd love to hear where), no matter how hard...
In a SMALL room i have to turn my surrounds all the way up to +10, which is as high as they go, and extremely unnacceptable.. This is..why i want to adjust my mains.. Nothing but problems with this receiver i swear, first the killer hiss, now this, and yesterday one of my component inputs...
Klipsch hands down, the RTi70s really wont compare imo. I own a pair of RF-5's and absolutely love them, but if you can test them both out, let your ears decide.
I *had* a JBL S-series setup, s38 mains, s-center, s36 surrounds, and i put them up against a klipsch reference series system (rf-5's, rc-3, rs-3) and the JBL's..well, sounded like they deserved to be sold at major chains. The JBL's are a GREAT buy, but simply will not stand up to more expensive...
I have Klipsch RF-5 mains, RC-7 center, and RS-3 surrounds and i'm pairing them with a Sony DA4ES. Great combination..at lower volumes. At higher volumes there is this insanely loud hiss that is UNBEARABLE. Its not a buzz, it IS a hiss, it sounds like air seeping out. It seems to be coming from...
Take him to a copper mine, show him a late 1920s pressure drill, turn the pressure all the way up, turn it on, and show him what SPL is really all about.
:D
This all comes down to the way your room is set up. I have no rear walls, but i do have side walls, so i put the dipoles on the side. There is absolutely no way the dipoles could be placed behind me, so I will buy a pair of bookshelfs for my surround backs.
I've never even heard of athena, but my choice would be 1-Paradigm 2-Polk 3-Athena 4-Bose Paradigm/Polk can be interchangable if you like, its all preference. If you are consider purchasing one of the two, i strongly reccomend you try to get a chance to test them side by side.
I had JBL's all around, s38 mains, s36 surrounds, s-center, and it was GREAT for home theater, but i found the s38's lacking when it came to two channel stereo, so i took all my JBL's back and picked up a Klipsch reference system, which has satisfied me much, much more than the JBL's ever could...
I've got a pair of RF-5's, a RC-7 center, and RS-3 surrounds paired with a Sony DA4ES and absolutely love it with movies AND music. They just sound so overwhelming..it's unbelievable. Of course they needed some heavy tweaking, but after i got them where i wanted, they are simply amazing..i...
All i have to say is WOW - i'm getting mine this coming wednesday (25th) and after reading this review I'll at least know to make sure i dont watch any dvds at high volume after 10pm, thats for damn sure
I auditioned both receivers at a local hi-fi shop and picked the DA4ES over the 3802 because i thought the 3802 sounded kinda dull. I'm no audiophile but i know what i like my music to sound like. The remote and ease of use also factored in, not to mention dts es, something the 3802 doesnt have.
Got my shipping notice, should be here on wednesday, but for some reason my tracking info isnt working yet?
Hopefully it'll show up a day early, considering i'm so close to the factory
From the klipsch website "Although many people will choose to show off the copper-colored Cerametallic™ cones,.." Right. Show off the cones. The same cones that will dent if anything comes in contact with them. The same cones that are PAPER thin. The same cones in my RF-5's. It makes me...
I just wanted to warn those who own, or plan to own, a pair of klipsch speakers with the copper colored woofers in them. They dent VERY EASILY. I just BARELY nicked one with my fingernail by accident, and it left a permanent dent in one of the speakers. I'll be contacting klipsch and giving them...
I usually stay away from smaller, privately owned Hi-Fi stores because it seems to me that most of the employees at places like that work on comission, and if you're not willing to make a huge purchase (over 10k) you will recieve the same level of service (or lower) you would at a chain store...
what size is the fan? why not just replace it with a quieter one? if any of you can get the fan specs (size, cfm, dba) i'm sure i could reccomend one that is much more efficient.
I have s38's in the front and s36's in the back, and i absolutely love the s36's as rear's. I would definitely go with s36's all around, they would match up really nice. If you consider the s26's, you could place them in the front OR the back (its all preference, i would prefer the back), and...
S36's all around would definitely sound alot better than the nsp1's, no contest. The S-center (i or ii makes no difference) is also a big step up from the n-center that comes with the nsp1's.
