Once I get to caught up with my movies, I'll need to watch some of my 65+ unwatched DVD sets too, so I'll take part in this. 1/8: Seinfeld, Season 1/2, Disk 1 (Season 1) 1/11: Seinfeld, Season 1/2, Disk 2 (Season 2, Eps 1 -5) Finished Seinfeld Season 1/2 set on 1/18. Currently plugging...
I'll start this now that it's January. In my alternate version of last years challenge (to watch all the unwatched DVDs in my collection--I didn't bother with all the extras unless they were interesting to me) I did well but didn't finish. Last year, I started February with about 525 unwatched...
414 watched through September, 287 still unwatched. I'll be glad when I'm finally caught up sometime next year, so I can go back to just watching for fun--I've seen lots of great movies this year, but trying to get through them all makes me kind of (ok very) compulsive about watching something...
So are other people still keeping up with this? I'm just trying to watch all my unwatched DVDs (started out over 500), and not worrying about the extras. Actually, realistically, if I get to 200 or so unwatched by the end of the year, I'll be doing well I think, since I'll catch up midway next...
I'd be very pleased if I did this, so that's my personal DVD challenge of 2004 (hopefully no one minds). I've got about 500 DVDs I've never watched (although most of those were not blind buys). I didn't watch a single one of my own movies this year before I started this (all of January), so this...
1. American Splendor (****) 2. Big Fish (****) 3. Whale Rider (****) 4. Spellbound (***1/2) 5. Kill Bill I (***1/2) 6. Return of the King (***1/2) 7. The Station Agent (***) 8. Lost in Translation (***) 9. Mystic River (***) 10. 21 Grams (***)
Obviously, it's not the end of the world if they change it, but I really wish they'd just leave it alone...I've loved the movie all these years, reflection and all (and as some others have said, if it's ok to eliminate "gaffs" why not eliminate bad special effects, and bad acting as well--maybe...
As far as other people's collections, I like looking because, if they have at all similar taste, I might see some DVDs I want to add to mine. I don't feel like it's violating their privacy, why else would they post them? As far as the cruddy titles in my collection (mostly either sequels or...
There are a lot, including many mentioned in this thread. The one I think is least likely to be released of all my many wants, though, is The Decline of Western Civilization, Part I. My VHS of it started out bad, and keeps getting worse, too.
I just purchased an AKAI 2791. Overall, it looks pretty good, although maybe a bit red. The one problem I have is that, on DVDs only (both through component and normal RCA connections), dark scenes are way too dark. If there's any shadows, I can hardly make out the faces, and I can't see any...
