Hey, I was making a similar choice recently, but instead looking between the JVC and the Panny DLP. You should determine yourself about rainbows by just watching the TV for a good half hour in a dark setting, and try hard to look for rainbows, if you don't see them don't base your decision on...
Pardon my ignorance, but what causes a sub to bottom out? Is it lower frequency sounds, high listening levels, or a combination of both? Cause I have a PE Plate amp and I use it for my 2231 CS, and there is an option to install a rumble filter, but I don't know if its worth it to install.
Doesn't the Sony 4ES and the HK avr525 have bass management capabilities to set different crossovers for the fronts, rears, and center. I know its probably not as detailed as pre/pro setup but it offers some of the capabilites and may be in the price range you are looking for. That is if you...
I really think the s38 is just a better speaker than the s center. I will play louder, have more bass, and have clearer mids in my opinion. The s-center was designed with space in mind, meaning that it is meant to sit on top of a television. But the s38's were not designed with that constraint...
I would probably sound better it you had jbl s26's (cheaper than the s center) all around, or jbl s38's (a little more expensive than the s center) all around. The s center was designed to save space for the center channel. The other two I mentioned would probably be more dynamic and would be...
If its going to sit on top of the tv you should make sure that it has sheilding on the bottom of the speaker. Sometimes sheilded bookshelves are only shielded on the sides. Also, you do need sheilding otherwise you picture will be distorted on the television.
I don't like sat speakers at all, prefer bookshelves, and even more prefer towers. But how would you guys compare wharfedale diamonds to dahlquists, specifically the qx60 center channel versus the diamond center channel, and the qx8 tower against the diamond 8.3 tower. Thanks
Thanks guys. The only reason I would buy bass twice is because I don't like the localized bass I get with the sub when listening to music. But then again some of the speakers you guys suggested have really good value so maybe I will reconsider getting speakers like that.
Thanks for the replies guys. I am not gonna go with axiom because that is what I got for my parents and I just want something different, also the system I would choose from them would put me over budget. I am also really considering ascend, thanks for the link, I haven't looked at there site in...
So I have been looking for months for the best set of speakers I can get for around $750, I already have a sub (svs cs 2531) and a receiver (hk 325) but buying the right speakers is killing me. I almost looked at every brand that has passed through these forums but I can't decide. Marc from...
Hello everybody, I just purchased an avr 325 in february and have been really happy with it. But recently I heard fuzzy sound coming from the front right speaker. It has lower volume than the left front and has pops and crackles in the sound, if that makes sense. I tried switching speakers...
I have a brand new Dell 1800FP that I don't want. I will let it go for $450 plus shipping. Also I have a brand new HP 4x DVD+R/RW that is for sale for $250 plus shipping. I realized that I shouldn't have bought this drive because its a little out of my budget so I need to sell it. Reach me...
I have not got around to building a box for it, but when I have a free weekend I plan on doing it. There is a web site and guy has created just about one the most complete guides I have seen on the internet, and its for building a box for this amp. I don't have the link with me now, but I will...
Even though the PE amp may not seem that great, remember that a lot of diy people use it in their subs. Also I think its a good cheaper option considering it does have a crossover adjust and you can turn on the rumble filter (with some soldering). But I have only used this PE with my SVS so I...
Although they will be under your budget by a lot. Check out the axiom m80ti's and the vp150 center channel. Things I like and other people like about these speakers: very good imaging, incredible midrange for the money, tight bass, very sensitive, and can play really loud. The things people...
On my parents 525, I setup the receiver with an axiom epic 80 speaker system. The fronts are 4 ohms, the center and 2 rears are 6 ohm. I was able to turn the receiver to a high volume with no problem. I think it will handle 4 ohm loads fine.
I hope you paid with an American Express, Visa, or Mastercard. That way you can request a chargeback and get your money back. American Express and Visa are very supportive of buyers and have great customer service from my experience with them.
I thought an 80Hz crossover was perfect for the NSP1's. Isn't 80Hz right around where they extend to. Also the 80Hz crossover isn't absolute, I think its about where its cut off. In my opinion, if you think the Kenwood has the feature set you should go for that.
Well how about trying an avr8000 in your home and then returning it if you don't think it was worth it. Granted you can only do this if you have a store near by that will let you do this, but trying out receivers in my home has definetly helped me before.
I too just setup a 525, I have never heard a 520 though. I agree with John about the 4 columns of numbers instead of a normal dial pad setup, its really hard to not look at the remote and use the numbers, and even when you use it, its still confusing. However, I rarely use the numbers on the...
