I've been looking around to buy my first projector, and been thinking of giving the Infocus 4805 a try since I hear excellent things about it for the money. But I think about resolution too since I'd be seating about 10 1/2 feet from a 90 inch diagonal screen. It'll be used primarily for DVD...
Hi, I'm about to purchase my first projector and I was wandering, SteveCoug, are you saying that the colors look better on the 4805?, are you using the same screen?, how are the blacks?, and resolution wise do you notice any difference? thanks a lot.
Hello, I'm getting ready to purchase my first projector and was looking at the Infocus 4805, and then I "heard" in the internet about the AE700, and it seems to be a posible candidate if the price is right. I think it's over $2000. Is this price a good value?, is it more future-proof than the...
I agree with Jeremy, many cd's sound a lot better (in my opinion) in DPLllx than just plain stereo, especially soft music like jazz etc, I'd still have to check more music styles though.
Region free?, that's that mean that if I send these players overseas it'd still play any DVD? I thought that was carefully safe-guarded by copyright laws, besides some movies that are already available in DVD in the USA, still are in theaters in other countries, anyone could make a lucrative...
JedW: I'll check it out I have that movie. But doesn't DPL IIx extract or create two additional matrixed channels out of 5.1 sources? are these sounds you mention truly discrete or they just sound like they are? little confused here...
I agree with Roger, the difference I notice between my old 5.1 receiver and my new one was not only more envelopment but also directionality, (specificity). Now I hear sounds coming from the ceiling behind me, my sides where the surrounds are, back sides, etc. When I was watching LOTR FOTR, the...
Thanks MaxMenon, after tweeking a bit I figured out how to turn DLPIIx on, and you're right, it sounds like sort of more lively!, I have to check out more movies in this new set up thanks!
I never choose DPLIIx for regular movie watching. Do you guys recommend it over the standard 5.1 or 6.1?, like LOTR the Two Towers for example. I never really tried it and I have a 7.1 system with a Yamaha RX-V2400. Right now I'm getting up and I'm gonna try it!
I wouldn't dare to call my Yamaha a Krell killer because I respect them big league boys, but one thing's for sure, my hats off to Yamaha! you don't have to spend a lot of money nowadays to enjoy HT and how!. I could have gone for the 1400 but I had the money...and I'm crazy...but if I had not...
Wayne: That's exactly what happened to my speakers. I already knew that one. That's why I upgraded. I didn' say VERY high volumes, you see high volumes is an introspective point of view for all of us here at the forum, for me loud is 15db, for some, listening at reference is the standard...
I agree, I always wonder if my receiver (Yamaha 2400), sounds so loud and clean, when will I need more, when I have hearing damage?, I feel I'll need to upgrade whenever I want better quality in sound at high volumes, not in high volumes alone. For that I'll buy a el-cheapo Pioneer receiver...
I agree with JackS, get the Yamaha 2400 and add an amp later. I don't think I'll need it myself though, this thing pumps a lot of power all by itself and cleanly!. Sorry, I had to mention it.:D
Something similar happened to me while watching the horse scene at the beguining of Seabiscuit at near reference levels. I heard a "cracking" sound, like burst of static coming thru my center speaker (Bose vcs-10, yes I know...). When I turned off the center channel in my receiver, It didn't...
I had the SPL meter from Radio shack a long time before having the Yamaha 2400 and let me tell you I haven't used it since. I feel that the YPAO is very accurate. I've read some posts here that say it's better to manually adjust the speakers levels using the meter, but I haven't done this yet...
Mark, I just read the review and found it really interesting as far as the quality of the player in both its audio and video. If it wasn't for its not so flexible bass management, I'd probably give a try. It has a fixed crossover of 100hz for CD and mp3, fixed xover of 120 hz for SACD, and...
Dan, I have decided that sound quality is my priority. It is between the Denon and Yamaha now. As I said before the Pioneer is too cheap for me to be comfortable quality-wise.
Dan Driscoll wrote: "Virtually all DVD players include DD/DTS decoders and have for the past several years. I have absolutely no doubt that the new Yamaha players will also have DD/DTS decoders built-in." You are totally right, Dan, I don't know where I got the notion that the Yammi didn't...
DavidWi: I have the Yamaha 2400 and it just blew my senses, it has lots of features you can use to accomodate to your tastes, like the equalizers it offers: Parametric and Graphic. The Parametric is more accurate and it's set automatically thru its auto calibration feature. The GPQ is a...
According to your responses, my choice would go to either the Yamaha 1500 or the Denon 2200. Nevertheless I don't think I need a separate DTS or Dolby Digital decoder in my next DVD player, I already have in my Yamaha RX-V2400! so, I think the winner would be the Yamaha model since the 2200 has...
Blaine_M, I have Deftech's Bp30's ("full range towers")for mains and a good sub (SVS PB2+), and actually my Yamaha receiver decided that my crossover frequency should be at 120hts (why? I don't know but that's another topic, you know that's how my room sounds like i guess...) after automatic...
You guys know it all. Thanks for all your inputs. The Pioneer is really cheap. For $150 you could'n go wrong or could you?, I believe quality costs you and I'm not too comfortable with that price being too low, I might be wrong but the Yamaha 1500 has really good dacs which translate into...
