It's worth seeing for Franco - his best role since the last time he played a stoner (Freaks & Geeks).;) It's definitely not as pound-for-pound funny as other classic Apatow flicks (Hell, I think "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" was funnier) The end breakfast sequence is great because...
That was one of my favorite moments in the film. We got a glimpse of it in the trailer, but it wasn't until I was experiencing the actual sequence in narrative context, that it blew me away. The Joker did not plan for this scenario right then, but now that the opportunity had presented itself...
I'm willing to bet it goes over 500 million at this point. And I think it's just amazing that TDK will end up selling more tickets than Batman '89. That's an achievement in itself.
TDK is gonna breeze past 500 million. Like I said earlier, an Oscar season (nomination period-awards-post awards period) would be the only way it could have sustained it's theatrical life to ultimately beat "Titanic" domestically. But it came damn close! If this kind of money was being...
And you can thank Harrison Ford for that! It was he that strong-armed Paramount to move it from opening up against "Air Force One". I believe it was also he that suggested a Christmas release would suit the film better. Harrison Ford is responsible for the record-breaking success of...
My favorite 'moment' in the film is actually just the transition from Joker's capture (ie:Gordon's resurrection) to the Jail scene establishing shot. Up until this point in the story, Heath had cast an almost mythic, scary shadow over the narrative. I was experiencing a great film about evil...
I've always liked Stone (mid-80s till late 90s), but I think Josh Brolin is the real draw for me here. Hope this continues his streak from last year (He also has Gus Van Sant's "Milk" this year).
Inflation will level that playing field. "The Dark Knight" will most likely be the the first film to gross 500 million since "Titanic". Who's to say 5....10....15 years from now, something doesn't gross 600+ million. However, Titanic's international figure is probably safe for at least 30...
I thought visually and technically (the sheer craftsmanship), it blew away the original. It looks like it cost twice it's budget, and you can literally get drunk off the imagery. It just keeps coming at you, from beginning to end. It's definitely worth seeing on the big screen for that reason...
See, I can't imagine a better way for the Nolan vision of the Two Face story to be told. It didn't feel rushed or condensed to me because this screenplay (ie:The ultimate Joker Story) was completely structured to revolve around the rise and fall of Harvey Dent. This film is his story. His...
I could see a female Robin and/or Catwoman playing a part in the third film. Females in Batman's life will definitely be an interesting angle/dynamic to play with now that Rachel's dead. I also agree that if this is the final film in his trilogy, Nolan will probably go for broke and take alot...
I don't like exasperating the sensationalism, but in reading about the "Bale incident", it seems he was closer to Ledger than we might have thought.
EXCLUSIVE: Arrested Batman star 'deeply depressed' over Ledger's death and personal stress | Mail Online
Great news for a great flick. :emoji_thumbsup: Even if it drops more than 50% next week, TDK could still reach 70 million. And it's weekdays should be great (Summer after all).
I really think Del Toro is probably just happy that he actually got to make 2(!) Hellboy movies with Ron Perlman...
All great picks, Paul. A small moment I'd like to add in, if you don't mind. #122 The Joker using hand sanitizer as he exits the hospital. It's the little moments.
Guys, spoilers are allowed.
Regarding Harvey's death..... The whole end of the film is built on the fact Batman will take the rap for the crimes of the very dead Harvey Dent. If he's not dead, the end sequence makes not a lick of sense. Are people still doubting his death because it's...
I agree, but there's an economic element to my suggestion. The corporate flunkies will love to connect the next film directly to it's 400+ million grossing predecessor. And it's still a cool title. And completely relevant to the storyline being telegraphed for the next film.
I agree those films are darker (more ambiguous). - but only slightly. And that blows my mind. I really don't think it's "quite opposite". Yes, TDK is "still" a good guy superhero/Batman film. So the third act definitely has more uplift than those two films. But the cumulative feeling as I left...
