Here in Canada, the price has really increased at Best Buy/Futureshop. Here's what I paid in the past: Harry Potter 1: $19.99 Harry Potter 2: $19.99 Harry Potter 3: $22.99 The new Harry Potter: Single: $23.99 2-disc: $29.99 That's a little steep for the 2-disc edition.
Hmm...I just bought the corrected set from Futureshop for $24.99 Canadian and it came with a booklet! Disc 2 had the V2 so it's not like I bought an old set... I thought the new sets didn't have a booklet.
Wow! I can't believe some of these prices! Too bad I already bought all the ones I really wanted from the list :frowning: That's a great price for Futurama BTW. Definately worth it! Maybe it's time I finally checked out the Firefly set ;)
This has been bugging me for a while. How come on some shows like Smallville, the audio is encoded as stereo, but on others like Buffy they are encoded as dolby prologic. Everytime I watch Smallville I have to manually adjust the audio output on my receiver to prologic, but on the buffy...
Regarding the missing booklets. I emailed them on May 21st but I did not receive a response so I wasn't really sure they processed it yet, but I received my booklet in the mail yesterday!
Thanks for the info on the missing booklets David! I was originally thinking of exchanging the set at the store, but if it's affecting all Canadian sets, I'll just request it from the email you provided. Cliff
hmm. I opened up my set today and found that all the discs are securely in place. The thing is, the booklet is missing! Just to make sure that this is not some kind of new cost-cutting measure, I wanted to ask if you guys got a booklet with your sets? Thanks
Did anyone in Vancouver, BC (or the rest of Canada)find this at the B&M stores? I called Futureshop and they didn't have it in stock or in their upcoming release lists.
This is a great dvd! Did anyone else take advantage of the free bobble head offer from Futureshop? I can't believe they gave me a full-size bobble head of Wolverine just for preordering!
Unfortunately, I too used to make blind purchases. I regret the following: 8 Mile Blair Witch Project Bounce Cruel Intentions 2 Darkness Falls Disturbing Behavior Ginger Snaps Jason Goes to Hell Joy Ride K-Pax Legally Blond Legend Manhunter Moonlight Mile Planet of the Apes...
I received my copy today. Seems like international orders are being shipped first... My copy arrived without any cardboard packing...only the keepcase with a mailing label attached to it...and it was a floater..but luckily there was no damage. It contains "The Follow." Some of the shorts...
Does anyone know if the Canadian Version contains any of the extras? I was in Futureshop today and the back of the dvd didn't list any special features...plus it said the audio was spanish 2.0! Did anyone pick this up in Canada?
I think it has to do with rights issues in Canada. Since TVA got to distribute the all french version and Alliance got the english subtitled version, Alliance can't disable subtitles because it would infringe on TVA's distribution rights.
Just a guess though...;)
It also took 5 months for me to get my free dvd. It was an offer from Fox, one of those "buy 4 get 1 free by mail." I actually thought they totally forgot about it.
Now I'm afraid that when widescreen tv's become common, there will be a new kind of pan & scan, at least for films wider that 1.85:1..."This film has been formatted to fit your 16x9 screen"...
:frowning:
What's the aspect ratio of the movie? On amazon, they list the '98 disc with a ratio of 1.85:1 but on the 2000 disc it's listed as 1.66:1. Is this just a misprint? And if so, what's the real ratio?
