No problem, it just seemed to me that your mind was set on an unsuitable product no matter what.
Yes that subwoofer would work, however I know nothing about the quality of that brand or specific product. But a powered subwoofer is exactly what you need for that receiver.
I'm sure those things can be made to output sound from an older receiver (although I'd check the impedance requirements of the receiver before plugging them in).
However, a home theater receiver playing back a digital 5.1 soundtrack from a DVD or Blu-Ray source is entirely different. An...
It may have a 12" woofer but it's still a two-way speaker, NOT a subwoofer. It's not intended for home theater use, and it's extremely unlikely you could make it work in a home theater setup at all. You need to look into powered subwoofers that will work with the Yamaha receiver you linked to.
That's a passive (unpowered) monitor speaker, not a subwoofer. It's not designed to output low frequency sound such as is found on DVD and Blu-Ray soundtracks.
I don't know what kind of inputs the speaker has, but it will not work correctly as a subwoofer with the Yamaha receiver, if at all.

I have no experience with the Apple products Steve mentioned, but they certainly have more features than this product and may be more appealing to you if you use iTunes.
However, if you're looking for something very simple, then this is it - you...
Do you really need to work with HTML only? Most hosting companies' plans are quite affordable even with SQL database and PHP support included. With those features supported, you could use a simple and easy-to-learn publishing platform such as WordPress, Joomla!, or Drupal (all free). Each of...
How about using (possible the free edition, unless you have many members) of Google Apps? Their Docs service would probably fulfill most of your needs: http://www.google.com/apps/intl/en/group/index.html
This might be a good opportunity to look into a whole-house security system. The smoke detectors in my house are part of the security system which means you get a text message or a pre-recorded voice call on your mobile phone (in my case, a maximum of six phone numbers) in case an alarm goes...
No review is visible, I'm using Internet Explorer 9 and Windows 7. I see only basic disc specs in bold typeface, and in the audio section below 'English DTS 5.1 HD Master Audio' I see more specs regarding the French audio and subtitles in a huge font size and that's where it ends for me...
I can't believe what I'm reading :(
Mr. Fowkes' long, insightful, and detailed posts on various topics here on the HTF were an absolute delight to read, and his genial, breezy style of writing always appealed to me.
May you rest in peace, Mr. Fowkes.
Hi Scott, Follow these instructions to manually delete the library data and start over with a clean install: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-sound/cannot-delete-library-in-windows-media-player-12/67a971f8-5660-4408-9a9b-387ddcbc2269
It's good to have Tony Whalen back on the boards. I was worried for a time that apparently silica was able to absorb member accounts here on the HTF, but somehow Tony overcame the problem. Thanks for visiting Costco and buying that giant tub of salsa.
Will purchase this one once it finds its way to my local brick-and-mortar retailer's discount bin. I'm assuming it won't take very long; perhaps two weeks. :)
Two years ago, I used to enjoy the speed the OP is experiencing. My upload and download figures were almost exactly the same. In addition, I thought that the price I paid was quite affordable. Unfortunately, while I now live in a nicer neighbourhood and in a house vs. an apartment, I no longer...
I saw this theatrically and wasn't really impressed with the presentation. This was a decent theatre where I've never had a problem watching a film before, so I have to assume it is the film itself. The colours didn't "pop" at all and the image was quite soft. While I haven't seen the Image...
What Greg said. Also, people who bother to import titles from other countries are certainly in the minority, and I would bet no French distributor could justify the added cost of putting English subtitles on a disc because of a few potential customers, even if licencing terms didn't prohibit...
Thanks for the review, Richard! It's great to hear Sony took the time to include a decent number of extras even though this is a low-key film whose release probably went unnoticed by most of the cinema audience. I went to see this film theatrically and thought it was excellent. My only...
